Really flexible project views

Pros

There's a lot of flexibility in the way projects and tasks can be set up, both at the project level and for each individual user. Different team members can organize and view their own tasks in whatever format works best for them which makes the platform adaptable to different working styles.

Cons

Using it doesn't feel very user friendly. The inline editing without a clear save action makes it too easy to accidentally replace text without noticing. The interface also feels complicated and on the lower paid plan I used, it was frustrating to click certain features only to realize they were locked behind higher-tier accounts.

Versatile email integrations

Pros

One thing I really like about this program is how well it integrates with several email platforms, along with having an excellent rules editor.

Cons

One downside is that it doesn't have an automatic email reader that can generate a report based on the sender.

Helpful team planning hub

Pros

Asana works well as an organization tool for small remote teams. It helps manage work schedules, track deadlines and stay focused on goals. On top of that it lets you view shared team goals and collaborate with others more easily.

Cons

It does feel limited in certain areas especially for creative work where managing a portfolio can be difficult. There also aren't enough customization options to really tailor and diversify the workflow.

Task discussions that keep work moving

Pros

Creating tasks and subtasks was very easy and it made it simple to start conversations around a specific task or item whenever needed.

Cons

It still feels limited in terms of functionality. A lot of project management features are missing especially when it comes to creating and managing milestones and there aren't dashboard-style views that provide useful insight into project progress and overall status.

Fantastic for remote team coordination

Pros

Handling multiple teams and freelancers in one place works really well. It's especially helpful for remote workers and the platform is very quick to learn.

Cons

It's a little disappointing that it doesn't connect with the Microsoft Outlook calendar but the email reminders cover that well enough so it's not a major issue.

Really helpful subtasks

Pros

Being able to add subtasks to tasks is really useful and it's simple to rearrange tasks and organize them into categories.

Cons

I haven't used it in a team setting so there may be features I am missing but it doesn't seem as flexible as a kanban board which can work better for certain projects.

Flexible project setup

Pros

One of the best parts is how much I can adapt it to fit the way my business works. It's very flexible from one project or team to another, there are plenty of features to choose from and it integrates well with other programs. The mobile app is also really handy for keeping up with business tasks.

Cons

At first the interface can feel a bit overwhelming because there are so many customization options for each project. It takes some time to figure out how to use everything and set it up the way you want but once that learning curve is out of the way, it works very well.

Custom projects wins

Pros

Being able to set up different projects and tasks made it simple to keep everything organized in one place. I also enjoyed the customization especially the little unicorn that flies across the screen when you complete a to-do.

Cons

It felt overwhelming and not very user friendly to me. After a week or two, I ended up giving up on it because I just couldn't stay on top of how it worked.

Versatile teamwork across devices

Pros

Using it is very easy since it's web-based and also comes with companion apps so I can access it from pretty much any device. It works really well for collaboration too especially when assigning tasks and tagging specific people so they only see what they need to see.

Cons

The free plan works well for a solo user or maybe a small team. That said to really take full advantage of everything the software offers, you need a fairly large team and you'll also have to pay for a subscription.

Clear project tracking, pricey tiers

Pros

Connecting Asana with Slack made following up on issues much more convenient. It also offers very clear ways to define tasks and organize projects.

Cons

The pricing tiers felt a bit expensive for the Business plan compared with competitors like Trello and JIRA.

Powerful teamwork

Pros

It is incredibly easy to use and that's one of the strongest things about it. Creating tasks takes almost no effort and it doesn't take long to figure out all the different ways you can use them. It adapts really well to different workflows especially when you're collaborating with a lot of people. Since everyone can edit tasks, it works really well as a central place to discuss and track everything related to a topic. Tagging tasks and mentioning teammates is also very useful because people get notified right away. Another big plus is the keyboard shortcuts. I really dislike having to constantly switch between keyboard and mouse especially using a touchpad so the hotkeys are a huge benefit. There are shortcuts for nearly everything and the Tab key ends up feeling like the magic button.

Cons

Reporting is where it falls short for me. I work on agile projects so I'd really want to see features like burn up and burn down charts, proper sprint setup and reporting that integrates everything to the bigger picture. Instead, you have to manually create projects that act like sprints which quickly leaves you with too many projects and makes it harder to keep an overall view. The good part is that it has an API so I was able to connect to it and build custom reporting with tags. The other downside is the price. It's priced alongside top-tier project management tools like Jira. I do think it offers enough value to justify the cost but when I was at a small company, it simply wasn't something we could afford at the time.

Productive campaign planning

Pros

Using this for a board organization has been really helpful. It works very well for building campaign action plans and tracking weekly or monthly action items which has definitely helped boost productivity.

Cons

A few features I want do exist but they're locked behind a more expensive subscription. I wish those options were included in the lower-cost plan.

Detailed planning powerhouse

Pros

Using it has been a fantastic experience. Everything is incredibly detailed, with each task and subtask for the day clearly mapped out. Reassigning work to other people is simple, adding notes or attaching files whenever needed is easy and customizing fields like hours the task will take really helps show how much work is coming up for the day or week so planning seems much more accurate.

Cons

That same level of detail can also make schedule changes more time-consuming. When one task gets pushed back, it often creates a chain reaction with the tasks after it so those need to be adjusted as well. On our end, delaying one item usually meant going back and updating another 5 to 10 related tasks. If that happens often, the extra project management time definitely starts to add up.

Clean tracking for team projects

Pros

It has a clean, user friendly layout that makes it really simple to keep track of progress across multiple projects even when they're assigned to different groups with changing members. I also appreciated how easily I could update and follow my own tasks while still keeping up with responses from the team or from specific individuals.

Cons

There's definitely a bit of feature overload. It offers so many options that, as an end user, it can feel overwhelming at times. That may be more related to how our setup was configured or something to review with an administrator and for some teams it could actually be a plus but it's still worth keeping in mind.

User friendly project management win

Pros

Being able to set up multiple projects and assign tasks was a huge plus and the platform feels very user friendly overall. It doesn't take long to learn and even people who aren't especially tech-savvy can get comfortable with it pretty quickly.

Cons

One thing that put me off was how pushy the customer support team felt during conversations. I had a few basic questions about features but the focus kept shifting back to selling me a bigger package instead of actually addressing my concerns. It felt like they weren't really listening. Also, to get the most out of the platform for business use, you really do need to pay for it. If you're working independently though, it can still be enough.

Fantastic free team planning

Pros

The free version has been excellent for what I need. I can add team members, set up projects, goals and milestones and keep everyone aligned and on schedule. It also does a really good job of helping me organize and stay on top of my daily to-do list.

Cons

I haven't had any reason to move to the paid version so I cannot really speak to the extra features. The basic plan already does exactly what I need it to do.

Powerful team project tracking

Pros

Asana has been an excellent fit for managing projects across our team. We've used it to keep multiple competing initiatives on track, including a year-long mailing plan for solicitations and it handled that workload really well.

Cons

Getting started wasn't completely user friendly and learning how everything worked took more time than I expected. The learning curve felt a little steeper At the beginning even though it became much easier to use once I got familiar with it.

Interactive teamwork that clicks

Pros

We recently switched to it at work for managing tasks and it's been fantastic to use. It is engaging, user friendly and even fun. Since I work in marketing, it's been really helpful for staying connected with teammates, tracking our assignments and keeping up with updates coming from other departments.

Cons

At first the part I liked least was getting familiar with the platform because it wasn't immediately clear to me how everything worked. I had to spend some time watching tutorials to figure out how to set things up properly from the ground up.

Clean design for personal tasks

Pros

The interface looks fantastic and seems really modern. It's visually appealing and makes managing personal tasks feel very simple and easy.

Cons

It wasn't the best fit for team collaboration. While it works really well for organizing individual tasks, it didn't seem to support our whole team very effectively.
