Handy gmail integration

Pros

One thing that's really convenient here is being able to handle email through plugins. It's especially useful when connected with Gmail since the mail client on Google's website can take quite a while to load.

Cons

At the same time the service felt a bit bulky and awkward to me especially after spending many years using Samepage. Team collaboration also takes some proper setup because it doesn't really work the way it should straight out of the box.

Fantastic project tracking

Pros

Keeping track of work projects with Asana has been really enjoyable. Recently, I discovered I can export all my tasks and bring them into my Google Calendar and that's been fantastic.

Cons

One thing I am not too happy with is how the exported tasks line up once they appear in my calendar. I still have to go back and rearrange them in Google Calendar to get everything organized properly.

Fantastic project planning hub

Pros

Compared with Trello and Basecamp, this project management platform works even better for us. We can assign each project to the right participants, set tasks and plans based on the expected outcomes and keep everything organized in one place. Because of that, we no longer need to discuss every small detail in a messenger.

Cons

The free version only allows 15 administrators which is fine for a small company but far too limited for a larger team. On top of that the paid version is quite expensive even for corporations.

Task tracking everywhere

Pros

Having my to-do list available wherever I am is a huge plus such as on my phone, my computer or even someone else's device. I can quickly add tasks as they come up organize lists, set due dates, create custom categories, track progress with notes and sync everything with my calendar. There's a lot it can do. Since I work as an office manager and random requests are constantly coming at me, usually all unrelated, this software has been incredibly valuable for staying organized and keeping track of where I am with follow-ups.

Cons

One thing I'd really like is the option to assign a task to two people. I get why they decided against it and the reasoning makes sense but it's still a feature I'd want. I also think working with occasional outside users could be made a bit more organized.

Helpful powerful

Pros

It is incredibly capable while still feeling flexible. It doesn't force you into one complex way of working and at the same time it offers pretty much every feature you could need to manage work effectively.

Cons

Like any platform that becomes central to day to day operations, it took a meaningful amount of time to learn both the software itself and the best way to apply it to our business. That said I wouldn't really count that as a flaw so much as a necessary part of adopting a tool this powerful.

Flexible task tracking upgrade

Pros

Coming from Basecamp, switching to this felt pretty natural since we were already used to working with task lists. It goes a bit further by letting us add custom fields to each task which makes it much more useful for tracking extra details and other information we need.

Cons

At the same time it doesn't really feel like a full project management platform and most of the experience still comes across as more of a task list than a complete PM solution.

Daily task tracking win

Pros

Working in shipping for an activewear business, we rely on it every single day to stay on top of everything that needs to get done. It's very easy and simple to use and being able to check off tasks makes it clear for the whole team to see where things stand throughout the day.

Cons

One thing that could be better is how subtasks are completed. You have to open each task individually to mark off every subtask and I'd love a more convenient way to handle that in the app.

Fantastic multi-project teamwork

Pros

Having all our projects in one place has been the biggest win with this tool. It lets us bring the right people into each project, assign tasks and subtasks to specific team members and build out timelines with due dates for everything that needs to get done. The feature we get the most value from though, is the plugin that turns emails into tasks which has been incredibly useful for our team. It's awesome

Cons

I honestly don't have much to complain about with this software. If I had to mention one thing, it would be that the pricing is a little high. Still, for what it offers, it feels worth it.

Helpful hub for article submissions

Pros

When we were using it for article submissions, it was really useful having everything gathered in one place that the whole team could access.

Cons

It didn't include all the scheduling features our team needed and I wasn't a fan of the layout compared with the product we ended up switching to.

flexible project views

Pros

It works well for all kinds of projects and feels very user friendly. Whether I need a basic checklist or a kanban-style board, it gives me different ways to manage work depending on what the project calls for.

Cons

It comes with a lot of useful features but getting a project set up for the first time can feel a bit overwhelming. One frustration I've run into is not being able to quickly view all completed tasks in one place alongside the ones that are still pending.

organized teamwork across platforms

Pros

Asana being cloud based makes it really practical for keeping projects well organized especially with larger teams juggling multiple tasks and deadlines at the same time. It helps a lot with collaboration and communication and the interface looks good across different devices. On top of that it's simple to navigate and comes with integrations that are genuinely useful.

Cons

We haven't run into any technical problems but it does take consistent follow-up to keep several projects manageable at once and prevent things from becoming hard to track.

Great task visibility

Pros

One thing I appreciate most about this software is being able to add tasks directly within a project. It helps everyone clearly see what they're supposed to work on.

Cons

This software really isn't a favorite of mine. Compared to Basecamp which felt much simpler and easier to understand Right away this one was pretty confusing and I still have trouble finding certain project cards.

real time task updates shine

Pros

Email feels slower once you start using this. Updates happen instantly and having a cloud based checklist you can access from any device is a really smart feature. It's also nice that tasks can now include a specific time due instead of only a due date.

Cons

One thing I'd still want is the ability to create my own projects outside the team setup. Because that isn't available, I end up managing my personal projects in a different app.

simple task tracking win

Pros

Managing team tasks with it has been really convenient for us. The interface is clean and simple so it doesn't take much time to understand how the software works or to collaborate closely with the rest of the team. Assigning tasks to specific teammates is very simple and everyone gets notified right away when something is assigned to them. Also it is helpful that we can leave comments directly on each task and continuously monitor the progress of everything assigned across the team.

Cons

this tool has been excellent for tracking the progress of all our tasks and I really don't have any complaints about it.

collaboration and slack sync shine

Pros

Working with a lot of people on the same project feels much more organized with Asana. It helped me stay on top of updates and deadlines thanks to the frequent notifications. Sharing very large files and more complex data with teammates is also really convenient and the Slack integration adds a lot of value.

Cons

The team conversations feature could be buggy from time to time. Another limitation is that administrative security controls can't be configured within a subproject.

organized teamwork with handy templates

Pros

Across teams and departments, it helps companies stay more organized than ever. Creating tasks, sharing them and tracking their status is very easy. Also it comes with a wide range of templates that help you manage your organization in the way that fits best.

Cons

There is a bit of a learning curve when it comes to using all of the features properly. On top of that each task can only be assigned to one person.

transparent task tracking, complex projects

Pros

Keeping tasks assigned and trackable comes with a decent level of transparency which makes it easier to see who is responsible for what and follow progress clearly.

Cons

Subtasks can't be cross tagged. The project structure also seems complex so I'd rather manage fewer projects with more subtasks than create lots of separate projects filled with standard tasks.

Reliable sync function

Pros

On both desktop and mobile Asana runs quickly and feels very convenient to use, with syncing that stays fast and dependable. It's also nice being able to set up your own space within the organization so you can filter out distractions and focus only on the tasks that matter. The customization options are a big plus too. Being able to switch between list view and column view depending on the project and the way you prefer to work is a thoughtful feature.

Cons

One thing that still trips me up even after nearly a year of using it is the multiple nesting levels. Having tasks inside tasks inside other tasks can become confusing pretty quickly and makes it easy to lose track of where you are. On top of that when you open a task and move into a subtask, the delete option seems less user friendly since it can wipe out the parent task. Deleting just a subtask only through a keyboard shortcut is not very user friendly.

Pros

Getting the agile scrum framework up and running with my team was quick and it gave us a clear way to follow the progress of the project.

task tracking that really helps

Pros

Juggling a huge daily workload across a lot of people is exactly where Asana has been a lifesaver. It helps keep tabs on and manage all the projects the company has going on. I use it for plenty of my own personal to-dos as well and being able to assign tasks and projects to my team quickly is a big plus. Another thing I really appreciate is how each task keeps its own conversation thread which makes project progress easier to follow and keeps that specific noise out of unrelated projects and out of everyone's email inbox.

Cons

It can be incredibly useful but it can also go the other way if it's handled poorly. Depending on who is using it and how they use it, it can become a micromanager's favorite tool and make work miserable for employees. Nobody wants a flood of email notifications every time a new task gets assigned especially when there's barely any context behind it. And sometimes it seems excessive like if you just need me to call a client back and I'm sitting two doors away, please just tell me instead of logging it in it. Best to use it carefully and with some common sense.
