Using it has been simple and it's packed with useful features... especially the invoice tracking which makes running my business a lot simpler.

It would be even better if M-Pesa integration were included so the overall out-of-the-box experience felt truly complete.

“Great for freelancers”

Pros

Any freelancing job I've needed to handle inside the organization fits well with it. The interface is really user-friendly and the way it transmits data feels highly secure. Also, I can quickly adjust financial reports thanks to the alerts and I'm able to set those alerts up the way I want.

Cons

FreshBooks doesn't feel built for large businesses and the ledger features don't meet expectations. After the most recent update, the overall experience dropped for me because the previous version worked better. Also, the pricing differs quite a lot between the different variants.

The onboarding flow is genuinely excellent and the whole platform feels simple thanks to the simple, GUI-driven interface. It also covers everything end-to-end for setting up and running accounts, with a high degree of automation that keeps the process moving. Also, it's a highly compliant system and comes with an extensive range of add-ons. Support from the live team has been solid whenever I've needed help.

Cons

Costs can ramp up pretty fast. The way invoices are sent is a bit dated and team member pricing can add up. Also, the payments side has had some issues, there have been cases where payments didn't go through properly.

Once you press send, it does actually deliver invoices automatically. That part works well.

Cons

Price is on the high side and support hasn't been very responsive from what I've seen. The setup and day-to-day flow for creating sorting, storing and generating reports feels scattered rather than connected.

Appreciate being able to upload clients I invoice often when I switched over. Linking my bank accounts was simple and importing transactions worked without much hassle. The app also lets you create rules for accounts so transactions can be categorized automatically. Also, the invoice templates look polished and creating invoices is quick and simple.

Cons

Accounting gets complicated if you have employees and you're paying any benefits. Separating what my employees contribute toward health insurance and retirement versus what I contribute turned into a huge headache. My bookkeeper and I ended up spending a lot of time going back and forth with their support to figure out the right setup. Ultimately, the workaround requires using journal entries which is time consuming and honestly doesn't feel very adaptive.

Would be even better if it included check...writing features and made payroll a bit more simple but overall I really enjoy using the program.

What I dislike most about this software is the limited English language user manual the absence of intra-project time tracking poorly handled recurring project budgets difficulty carrying over customer balances to new invoices and the inability to integrate with QuickBooks.
