“Freshbooks is the ultimate for a service-based business”

Pros

I used to be a loyal user of Quickbooks appreciating its app and time tracking capabilities. However as functionalities were gradually removed I made the switch to FreshBooks specifically designed for small service-based businesses. With built-in features like recurring billing time tracking and payment processing FreshBooks proved to be an effortless and efficient solution. Setting up the software took only two hours and the overall experience was excellent. FreshBooks truly empowers business owners to focus on running their operations smoothly.

Cons

This software falls short on the accounting side. If you're familiar with QuickBooks you know the importance of double-entry accounting in-depth reporting with punchouts and a quick profitability dashboard. FreshBooks lacks these features and you'll need an accountant's help at the end of the year. We had to rebuild our system because FreshBooks doesn't support a cash-based accounting system.

Cons

It wasn't designed for large businesses and it lacks the ledger capabilities that were expected. The most recent update has diminished its respect as the older version operated more effectively. The cost varies significantly across different versions.

The onboarding process is excellent with a simple GUI-driven interface. It provides an end-to-end account solution with a high degree of automation. The system is highly compliant and offers an extensive range of add-ons. Live customer support is also available.

Cons

The cost can quickly add up and there are issues with the payment system as well as additional charges for team members.

When I transitioned I loved that I could easily upload frequently invoiced clients. Setting up bank links and downloading transactions was a simple process. Creating invoices is a breeze and the software allows for customized rules for accounts.

Cons

The software lacks support for accounting when it comes to employees and benefits. Trying to separate the cost of employee contributions to health insurance retirement etc. from what I contribute has been a nightmare. My bookkeeper and I spent a significant amount of time with FreshBooks support trying to figure out how to do it. It turns out it requires a time-consuming and nonsensical journal entry.
