I love the intuitive and easy-to-use nature of FreshBooks. Invoicing payment processing and overall accounts receivable functions are simple yet powerful helping my one-person operation run smoothly. The support staff is responsive and wonderful contributing to efficient accounting practices.

Pros

FreshBooks has an interactive interface that makes it feel exceptionally user-friendly. It offers a great set of customizable templates for various accounting needs. When combined with other apps FreshBooks becomes an excellent tool. I highly recommend it for creating invoices sending them instantly and tracking and monitoring their progress.

Cons

There is a Chrome extension for time tracking but it is currently not functioning as expected. The search feature does not auto-populate project names requiring manual scrolling. While these issues will likely be fixed there are occasional difficulties with cost synchronization and more features to expedite and simplify classification would be appreciated.

Pros

FreshBooks allows for time logging and billing customers based on hours. It offers superior client service compared to competitors and includes a mobile app for on-the-go accounting and billing. The time tracking feature works flawlessly and the user interface is easy to understand. You can choose from fully customizable designs create recurring digital invoices add discounts easily and receive instant alerts when invoices are viewed or paid online. All these functions are available in the mobile app as well.

Cons

FreshBooks falls short in certain areas compared to QuickBooks Self-Employed as it lacks the ability to generate quarterly tax reports. However it does offer sales tax and cost reports. The pricing structure of FreshBooks restricts the number of users and clients with the option to add extra users for an additional $10 per month. The lower-tier plans have limitations on the number of clients ranging from 5 to 50. Unfortunately it does not provide the functionality to track income or expenses by class. Despite these limitations many small business owners still find the cost of FreshBooks worthwhile although the price tag of $15/month+ can be difficult to accept.

The previous interface and management under the previous CEO were highly valued. However as a customer for 10 years I'm disappointed with the current state of the software broken customer service and data security issues.

Their previous software version was commendable but the transition to a less-featured new version with a significant price hike was disheartening. Despite their claims of valuing customer feedback I observed no tangible actions taken based on such suggestions. The new version lacks essential features and feels cumbersome compared to its predecessor. After grappling with issues for a year I made the decision not to renew my subscription. When I contacted them to cancel and requested the deletion of my credit card data they callously refused hinting at potential future charges. In 3011 their policy guaranteed access to data through the website even without a paid account. However they have since altered their policy and deceitfully misrepresented their past practices. They used to offer free accounts with perpetual data access but now they abruptly terminate access as soon as the subscription ends. Their insatiable thirst for money drives away customers. Superior accounting software options with more attentive customer service are readily available.
