A network diagram is a visual representation that displays project tasks and critical paths. Each task is represented by a box, also known as a node. Furthermore, a line connects two boxes and indicates task dependency.

The critical path is a series of interconnected tasks that depend on each other and take the longest to complete. It helps to determine the most efficient timeline to finish a project. On the other hand, baseline is used to assess the project’s progress. Baselines compare the goal plan with the actual progress of a project.

Projects added to Project Office have a base calendar with standard working hours and a resource calendar that sets a specific schedule. Tasks are scheduled using the project calendar, and if a resource is assigned to a task, the administrator can use their own calendar. Individual resource calendars can be created based on required settings.

Pros

As the technical director I was able to effectively manage the budget and overall Capex using the software's time line and total expenditure features. Although it took me several weeks of trial and error to figure out how to use the software the final results proved to be a valuable tool.

Cons

I found the software to be challenging to use and the user guides available were not helpful for someone unfamiliar with it. I had to learn the best way to use it through trial and error. I worked for four months at least 12 hours a day and sometimes even 36 hours with only breaks for food and the bathroom. I have an Apple Mac Pro 2017 and the computer was slow in processing changes. Sometimes it took up to 60 minutes to complete an update.Sometimes when switching between activities the resources were not properly prioritized based on their value causing delays for low priority resources. To avoid delays I upgraded my RAM to 64 GB while building a modular refinery worth 45 million. I found that the new planning software Man Pro would help me solve this issue. However I had to get accustomed to the software and sometimes had to wait between changes. Despite not being a professional planner I have been using similar tools for project management for 40 years.
