Integrates well with our existing systems

Pros

Using it has made team communication much more structured and organized and it's very simple to use. Another big plus is how well it integrates with the company's existing systems which makes it fit naturally into our workflow.

Cons

when an employee leaves the company, only the primary workspace is removed. Other workspaces tied to the same email address can still remain accessible to that user.

Better than relying on non-business messaging apps

Pros

Across a company with lots of departments and staff, this feels like a huge step up from relying on non-business messaging apps like WhatsApp. It's simple to use while still keeping conversations clear, structured and well organized.

Cons

There were times when important information got missed if a thread had already been opened by another employee using the same login. Using separate users in the same channel would probably fix it but that also felt like more setup than it should need.

Team-wide channel access

Pros

being able to review things right inside the chat channels while keeping the whole team in the loop and able to access everything.

Cons

The biggest frustration was having to start an entirely new chat whenever someone needed to be added or removed. On top of that, the old chats couldn't be deleted so they piled up quickly and became difficult to sort through when trying to find the right conversation.

Sets the benchmark

Pros

Out of all the tools I've used, this one has easily been the best. The pricing is really low and budget-friendly and the interface is something I genuinely enjoy because it feels very user-friendly and welcoming.

Cons

Honestly, I don't have any complaints about it. It has been performing really well and after using it for more than four years, I still haven't run into anything negative to mention.

Channel-based setup

Pros

Keeping project discussions organized feels really natural here because the channel-based messaging setup separates everything clearly. Replies and direct messages also make it simple to track multiple conversations at once without losing the context.

Cons

The desktop app can sometimes eat up a lot of memory and start lagging especially when I have several workspaces open.

Makes it easier to coordinate different teams

Pros

It has been especially useful whenever I need to coordinate different internal teams that are working across separate client networks. The channel-based setup keeps each customer's technical conversations in its own space which helps keep discussions organized and focused.

Cons

When a channel gets flooded with notifications though, it can become difficult to keep related messages connected and follow the conversation properly.

Effective for improving internal communication

Pros

Back in 2018, I began using it as a CRA at my previous organization and it turned out to be a very effective way to improve internal communication through unlimited channels.

Cons

I really haven't run into anything troubling while using it which says a lot about the vendor's ongoing support.

Perfect for remote teams

Pros

Right away, it felt very user-friendly. The interface is incredibly well organized and it makes collaborating remotely feel smooth. Working with people in different locations becomes much simpler because everything flows naturally in one place.

Cons

There really isn't much to complain about since it's a very solid tool overall. If I had to point out one thing, it would be that the initial onboarding could be a little more polished for brand-new users who have never tried it before. After that though, it becomes very user-friendly and simple to navigate.

Messages without delays

Pros

Instant messaging is one of the best parts of this tool since messages are exchanged in real time without delay. It also lets us create really useful channels which makes sharing information and having team discussions much more effective. The search functionality is strong as well, making it simple to locate previous conversations when needed. On top of that, the communication options are customizable which makes the platform even more flexible.

Cons

It works extremely well for what it is designed to do and has gone beyond my expectations. Honestly, I do not have any complaints to mention.

We use it to track shared to-dos

Pros

Keeping up with the team is really simple with it. We use it a lot to track shared to-dos, pin important notes in specific channels and keep everything visible for the group. It's also handy when we need to quickly jump into huddles.

Cons

Reminders should be more visible. Since I work across two screens, it would be helpful to get a small notification on the second monitor too. It's possible that option already exists and I just haven't come across it yet.

Important part of our operations

Pros

It has become something we rely on every day. It's very user-friendly even without paying for the pro plan and the free version still offers a lot of value. We use it constantly for day-to-day communication, meetings and huddles, plus canvas for sharing notes and links. We've set up channels for clients, specific topics and different departments and honestly, we couldn't function nearly as well without it.

Cons

I genuinely can't think of any downsides. The pro version is especially useful because being able to search through past conversations, channels and your full message history makes a huge difference.

Fantastic feature set and interface

Pros

Slack's interface, feature set and huddle function really stand out to me. Being able to tag someone in a way that draws a bit more attention is especially useful and that's one feature I genuinely appreciate.

Cons

Some of the icons feel awkwardly placed and keeping track of conversations can be frustrating at times. Sometimes chats don't appear in the sidebar which makes the platform harder to navigate and use.

Main mode of communication for us

Pros

It is the primary way my company stays in touch and it works really well for team communication. I especially enjoy being able to set up separate channels, group conversations and custom emojis to make interactions more organized and fun.

Cons

This may be less about Slack itself and more about how our company uses and manages it but it can feel pretty overwhelming and noisy at times. With so many channels, mentions, conversations and ongoing discussions, things can get a bit chaotic.

Does everything for me

Pros

Covers direct messaging, team chats organized communication and company-wide conversations through channels, plus the permission settings help keep everything shared with the right people.

Cons

It's still missing Outlook integration for scheduling video calls. It also doesn't offer a very user-friendly way to keep track of all the files, folders and links that get shared in messages.

Makes it simple to work in different time zones

Pros

Working across my team's different time zones has been much more manageable with it. It helps keep conversations clear and on time thanks to fast message delivery, tagging and a searchable history that makes past discussions easy to pull up.

Cons

We share a lot of design files and documentation as attachments and the frustrating part is that older files sometimes seem to disappear without any clear reason.

neatly organized conversations

Pros

Makes it convenient to connect with my team in real time. Conversations are neatly organized into channels and the integrations with tools like Google Drive, Zoom and reminders help keep everything in one central place and make day-to-day work more efficient.

Cons

The notifications can become a little overwhelming when channels get busy and important messages can sometimes get lost in all the activity. It would be helpful to have a more user-friendly way to prioritize messages or set reminders so key updates don't get missed.

Nonexistent learning curve

Pros

Quite user friendly. The features feel user-friendly right away and didn't require any real learning curve. It comes with plenty of tools for communicating with different groups and the option to include external guests is also really useful.

Cons

There were times when the app crashed which meant relaunching it. I also noticed that message notifications on my laptop could sometimes arrive late.

Highly configurable

Pros

The level of control it gives you when setting up and managing channels is impressive. That kind of flexibility makes the admin side much more simple.

Cons

Not much I disliked about it besides the pricing. Still, nothing is free and compared with other apps, Slack holds up pretty well.

Fits into our daily workflow

Pros

From the moment we started using it, our internal communication became quicker and much more organized. It fits naturally into our daily workflow and keeps the entire team aligned, whether people are working remotely or in the office.

Cons

Clear and quick communication

Pros

Chatting with my team is really simple and sharing files or keeping discussions organized by channel makes a big difference. It keeps communication fast, clear and even a little more enjoyable with things like emojis and GIFs.

Cons

it can become pretty noisy once messages and notifications start piling up especially in active channels. If you are not paying close attention, important updates can be easy to miss.
