“Helpful notification system”
Pros
Right away, it feels simple to use. The channel setup and notification system do a good job of keeping the team organized and being available across multiple platforms makes it convenient to stay connected anytime.
Cons
It can start using a lot of system resources especially when many integrations are added. Also, the free plan only keeps 90 days of message history and that limit really should be longer.

“Nostalgic chat with polished design”
Pros
It gives me the best kind of AOL Instant Messenger nostalgia but built for today's workplace. Keeping up with coworkers across different timelines is really convenient and the interface feels very user-friendly to use. The overall look is clean and visually appealing and I especially enjoy how much detail you can add to your profile.
Cons
When I first tried setting up the app, account creation was a bit problematic and we ended up bouncing between the browser version and the app to get things working. Thankfully, whatever was causing it cleared up in under 24 hours. I'm still not completely sure whether the problem was with the platform itself or just something going on with our work computer.

“Ideal for internal communication”
Pros
Slack has been the best tool I've used for internal communication. The interface is very user-friendly so getting around it is simple and both the video and audio quality stay consistently strong even when the internet connection is unreliable. It really helps make remote work much more manageable.
Cons
I honestly haven't run into any issues with it. It works well and has been reliable for me.

“Simple to onboard”
Pros
It keeps our team connected whether we're on mobile or desktop so messages don't slip through the cracks. It works really well with other platforms and it's also been a reliable fallback for sharing files whenever our project management system goes down. On top of that, it's very user-friendly and makes onboarding new people pretty simple.
Cons
Notification control could be better. There aren't many options so if I need uninterrupted time to focus on a task but still want to hear from just my supervisor, that's hard to set up.

The free version feels more limited and the paid plan is definitely a better fit especially for larger teams.

“Sorted conversations”
Pros
Quick back-and-forth with coworkers is one of the best parts of using it. Having multiple channels also helps keep conversations sorted and organized.
Cons
We've ended up with far too many channels and some teammates rely on Slack for absolutely everything. One time I asked a coworker to write up instructions for a new tool and instead of adding them to a shared Google Doc, she sent me around 15 screenshots with notes on them through Slack. I then had to copy and paste everything into a document myself so we'd have something usable for future reference.

Cons

“Privacy-first team messaging”
Pros
Using this as my primary way to message people has been really helpful especially when I don't want to hand out my personal phone number or rely on regular texting.
Cons
Now and then, a message wouldn't send properly. Usually, closing and restarting the app took care of it.
