“real-time document sharing”
Pros
Incredible for communication, real-time document sharing and it's highly extensible.
Cons
The search feature doesn't work very well so it's hard to rely on it as a true company knowledge base for knowledge management.

“Multiple rooms for stock chats”
Pros
I use it for a stock-focused group and one thing I really enjoy is having multiple rooms where I can connect with different people and keep conversations organized.
Cons
Using it on my cellphone can be difficult to navigate at times. It works much better on an iPad or desktop, in my opinion.

“The only chat tool I need”
Pros
After using plenty of workplace chat tools, this is the one I'd stick with long term. It covers everything I need for team messaging and feels like the last app I'd ever have to switch from.
Cons
I don't have any real complaints besides the fact that it isn't free and you do have to pay for it.

Pros
It connects with a huge range of vendors and services through integrations which makes it really versatile.
Cons
I'm happy with just about everything though lower pricing for storing a larger amount of chat history would make it even better.

“Keeps discussions focused”
Pros
Slack works really well for team collaboration especially with its real-time messaging and channel-based setup. It keeps discussions organized, focused and easy to revisit when needed. The integrations with Google Drive and Trello fit in smoothly which makes day-to-day work more convenient. Searching through older messages is also very simple and useful.
Cons
The bot wasn't something I enjoyed using and at first the platform felt a little overwhelming because there were so many features to figure out.

“Useful video conferencing feature”
Pros
Across my organization, every department uses it and that has really brought everyone together in one place through unlimited communication channels. It also includes a video conferencing feature which lets our teams hold online meetings without needing a separate tool.
Cons
I rolled it out in 2021 and since then I honestly haven't run into any issues at all.

“Direct messages feels effortless”
Pros
It is very simple to use so chatting with coworkers through channels or direct messages feels effortless. Threaded conversations help keep discussions organized instead of everything getting mixed together which makes a big difference. It also connects with tools like GitHub and that can be really useful in daily work.
Cons
Compared with Microsoft Teams or Google Workspace, the range of third-party integrations feels a bit more limited which can be restrictive at times. Video calling is another area where it falls short since Teams and Google Chat have that built in, while Slack depends on an external app making it less convenient when it's your primary communication platform.

“Easy to move between conversations”
Pros
Moving between direct messages, group conversations and channels feels really natural and quick. The notification settings are incredibly customizable which makes it much easier to manage what actually needs attention. Being able to create custom emojis is a fun bonus and the option to set a custom status with an emoji next to your name adds a nice personal touch.
Cons
Thread replies can occasionally be missed or get buried although that can usually be managed if you keep an eye on threads and turn on notifications for them.

“Comes with a ton of features”
Pros
It comes with a ton of features and that's a big reason I enjoy using it. It helps me stay on top of different parts of my workday, from chatting with coworkers to keeping important conversations organized in one place, plus plenty of other useful benefits.
Cons
The large number of channels can feel a bit cluttered at times. I really wish there were a way to create folders for channels so they could be grouped together and minimized whenever needed.

“Supports plenty of integrations”
Pros
Keeping remote teams aligned is much simpler with it because it makes communication quick and convenient. It also supports plenty of integrations which makes it useful for tracking things like software outages and other important updates in one place.
Cons
It can sometimes become a bit distracting when you need uninterrupted focus although that's really a common downside of any communication tool.

“Syncs with Asana”
Pros
Using it across both desktop and mobile feels very user-friendly and the integration with Asana is a big plus. One feature I rely on a lot is being able to set reminders from a message which makes it simple to return to something important later. It also works especially well with the mobile app, if I need to send a photo from my phone, I can upload it there as a draft and then pick it up right away on my desktop to finish editing the message. I'm in two Slack workspaces, one for my job and another for a community I'm involved with and switching between them is completely smooth.
Cons
Some useful integrations are locked behind extra cost, like Donut for recurring engagement questions or Polly for polls and surveys. When you're in a lot of channels and messages are constantly coming in, it's pretty easy to overlook a group announcement unless you're tagged directly. Message formatting can also be frustrating since pressing ENTER sends the message instead of moving to a new line. I've also used Microsoft Teams and honestly I think it's the better product overall.
