Valuable intergration with Google Drive, Jira and Salesforce

Pros

Communication across the team happens much faster and feels far more organized with channels, threads and direct messages. I also really appreciate how simple it is to connect tools like Google Drive, Jira and Salesforce so updates and workflows can be managed from one place.

Cons

Notifications can sometimes get overwhelming when there are too many active channels going at once. The search works well overall but it could still be improved to make older conversations quicker to find.

Easy to use

Pros

Found it pretty easy to use even for people who aren't especially tech-savvy. Its features and overall functionality are exactly what I need.

Cons

Every now and then, the way the channel layout is organized gets a bit overwhelming and makes the UX feel a little confusing from a viewing perspective.

Free plan offers good value

Pros

The free plan offers really strong value for the money and the platform is very simple to use. It makes real-time communication simple when working remotely and the integrations are a big plus since they bring in notifications instantly.

Cons

There are restrictions that come with the free plan. It mainly affects how long messages are kept but that can be resolved by upgrading to a paid license if needed.

Efficient team communication

Pros

Team communication feels much faster and more organized with it. The channel setup keeps conversations separated by topic so it's much simpler to follow discussions without everything getting mixed together. It also works really well with other tools which makes handling files, updates and notifications in one place a lot more convenient. The search function is especially useful too since it helps you find older messages or shared details quickly. Overall, it makes collaboration feel more efficient, structured and manageable.

Cons

It can start to feel overwhelming when you're part of a lot of channels because messages come in constantly. If notifications aren't managed carefully, it's pretty easy to miss important updates.

Way ahead of competitors

Pros

Compared with other standalone workplace chat tools, this one honestly leaves them behind. It's very simple to pick up the first time you use it and it works really well for both direct one-on-one messages and bigger group conversations.

Cons

Aside from the price feeling a little high for very small teams, I don't really have any complaints. Since the free version still lets me stay in touch with a handful of clients, I don't even need to pay to get done what I need.

Keeps communication flowing

Pros

It keeps team communication flowing really well. The thread setup works nicely and being able to mention anyone from any channel is super helpful. File sharing and video calling are both solid too.

Cons

The free plan leaves out too many features to feel truly worthwhile and the per-user licensing cost is pretty expensive.

Bug-free system

Pros

It helps me stay in touch with my colleagues both at work and from home without any hassle. It works really well for meetings and I haven't run into any bugs while using it. File sharing is also very useful which makes collaboration much better.

Cons

Tends to send too many notifications and that can sometimes feel distracting and a bit disruptive.

Syncs with a wide range of tools

Pros

Slack connects with a wide range of tools my company already relies on which makes communication and collaboration with the team much more convenient.

Cons

The web version doesn't perform quite as well as the app although the bugs usually get fixed fairly quickly.

Can't do without it

Pros

Honestly, I'd be lost without it. My company has adopted Slack so heavily that we use it just as much as email, maybe even a little more. I've also really enjoyed all the innovation they've been rolling out especially with AI.

Cons

There isn't much I dislike about it. Every now and then, I run into what seems like a notification bug in the app where it shows a bunch of unread messages even though I'm fully caught up. It usually fixes itself pretty quickly and doesn't get in the way of how I use the tool.

Powerful communication tool

Pros

It has been a really strong communication tool for our team, the save for later feature and reminder feature are probably my favorite parts. It comes with a lot of useful features that make collaboration feel more organized and convenient.

Cons

The message volume can become too much so the notifications usually need some adjusting. It also takes a bit of time to set everything up into groups properly and figure out what to mute.

Feels consistent

Pros

Great how organized and consistent the conversations feel. Other internal communication tools also let you chat, share documents and handle collaborative work but without an admin keeping everything in order, you can end up spending a lot of time trying to organize it all yourself.

Cons

Slack's free plan is not quite as impressive as many people make it sound. You quickly run into limits on the number of people who can join a video call, the size of files you can send and several other non-essential features that still make the overall experience feel more smooth when they're available.

Top-notch video and voice call quality

Pros

Using it day to day feels very simple. The video and voice call quality is solid and the wide range of theme options plus file sharing makes collaboration at work feel effortless.

Cons

The always-on green active status bothers me. That constant visibility creates pressure to respond right away even when an immediate reply is not necessary.

Has all the features I need

Pros

It gives me all the chat and group features I'd expect from something like Teams and the mobile experience works really well. The tagging feature is also a nice touch and makes conversations easier to manage.

Cons

File sharing and collaboration aren't the most user-friendly parts of the platform. Getting notification preferences set up the way you want can also be a bit confusing.

Efficient performance

Pros

Working with the team feels really efficient in it thanks to the clean interface and the way channels keep conversations organized. The Huddle feature is especially useful when I need a quick audio check-in without setting up a formal meeting. It also fits perfectly into our workflow because the integrations with Google Drive, Jira, Trello and other tools are excellent and keep everything connected.

Cons

Notifications can get out of hand pretty quickly because the default settings tend to create a lot of noise and lead to notification fatigue. The Pro and Business plans also feel pricey for smaller teams and finding older files or specific past messages through search can sometimes be more difficult than it should be.

Fast chat speed

Pros

Honestly, the chat speed is what sold me on it. I can send a quick message to my sales team about processing an order, get a response back and have everything sorted out before the customer even hangs up.

Cons

notifications sometimes don't appear during the middle of the workday. Just last month, I got thrown off twice because internal alerts never showed up while I was working.

Channels keep chats organized

Pros

Keeping team conversations organized is where it really shines. Channels make it much easier to keep discussions on topic and the search feature does an excellent job of pulling up old messages or shared files when needed. The integrations with tools like Google Drive, Jira and Zoom also help bring work into one place which makes project coordination much more efficient. On top of that, the interface feels clean, user-friendly and consistent across different devices.

Cons

number of notifications can be a bit too much especially when you're part of a large team with a lot of active channels. New users may also need a little time to get comfortable with how channels are organized and how to properly adjust notification settings. On top of that some of the more advanced features and admin controls are only available on the higher-tier plans.

Very responsive

Pros

It feels very responsive and the channel-based setup does a good job of keeping conversations organized. The integrations with other tools really help simplify workflows and it makes staying connected throughout the day pretty effortless.

Cons

Once there are too many channels and messages, it can start to feel overwhelming. Important details can also get buried if everything isn't managed carefully.

Team chat that keeps work moving

Pros

It really makes day-to-day communication feel natural. It doesn't come across like a rigid work platform so much as texting with your team. You ask a question, get a reply and keep going without having to draft formal emails or wait forever for someone to respond. That quick back-and-forth helps keep momentum up. The channel setup is a huge reason it works so well too. There's a space for projects, a space for random conversations, a space for announcements and everything stays organized instead of getting buried in one massive inbox. The integrations are another big plus. GitHub updates, alerts from other tools, standup bots, it all feeds into one place which makes it much easier to stay on top of what's happening. Overall, it helps the team feel more connected even when everyone is working remotely.

Cons

The biggest downside is the notifications. As the team gets larger and you end up in more channels, it can become overwhelming fast. There are constant pings and if you don't manage them carefully, they can wreck your focus. You either find yourself checking Slack every few minutes or muting too much and then missing something that actually mattered. Search could also be better. Trying to find an older message or a file someone shared a few weeks back feels more difficult than it should. A lot of the time, you need to remember the exact wording to locate it which kind of defeats the point of having search in the first place. The free plan's message history limit is also pretty frustrating. When you need to go back and find something from months ago and realize it's no longer available, that's a real pain. For smaller teams or startups trying to keep costs down, that restriction feels like a major feature being held behind the paywall. None of these issues are enough to make me stop using it but the friction definitely adds up over time.

Effortless setup

Pros

Setup doesn't take much effort. I've used it for group messaging in both work and casual environments and it fits both situations well. For small teams or startups, the free plan can be very convenient and more than sufficient.

Cons

It's not as full-featured or robust as something like Microsoft Teams but for smaller groups or teams watching their budget, it still does the job well since there's a free version available.

helps remote and hybrid teams work together

Pros

It is simple to use and helps remote and hybrid teams work together without friction. It's a really effective tool for collaborating with coworkers and the API support is solid for building integrations.

Cons

broader filtering support in the API could make it better. For instance, being able to filter user lists by active status or bot status directly would be much better than having to remove those entries programmatically afterward.
