Video meetings built right in

Pros

One of the newest updates, video conferencing, has been especially useful because it lets me run company meetings online without needing to connect any third-party apps.

Cons

After using it for more than six years, I honestly haven't come across anything I dislike.

Can easily create our own channels

Pros

Using it across different teams feels very simple and being able to set up our own channels is something I really appreciate.

Cons

Some of the app add-ons feel overpriced compared with the value they actually deliver.

Broad range of features

Pros

It comes with a broad set of features that has helped me cut back on relying on third-party app integrations. The built-in video conferencing also lets me run online meetings from anywhere, all in one place over the internet.

Cons

Since I began using it, I honestly haven't run into any drawbacks, not even once.

Custom emojis reflect company culture

Pros

This software works really well with other tools we already use which makes it much more convenient in day-to-day work. The way conversations are organized especially with threading and message scheduling, helps keep communication under control. I also appreciate the custom emojis since they add personality and reflect the company culture in a fun, natural way.

Cons

It can be hard to manage several threads at the same time since it's hard to manage them properly unless I pop them out into separate windows.

Lets us add pictures, videos, links

Pros

It's free to use. It also lets us add pictures, videos, links and emojis to messages without any hassle which makes conversations much more engaging. Another big plus is that the mobile app works just as well as the desktop version so the experience stays consistent on both.

Cons

The only limitation I've noticed is that the free plan keeps just three months of message history available but considering there's no cost, that really isn't a major issue.

Laid out logically

Pros

Slack has a very user-friendly interface with a layout that feels natural from the start. I was able to jump in and begin using it right away without sitting through a long tutorial. Everything is arranged in a logical way so it's easier to stay focused on work instead of spending time trying to figure out how the app works.

Cons

After 90 days, conversations and shared content like files and links become hidden unless you upgrade to the premium plan to access them again.

Threaded chats keep teams aligned

Pros

Threaded conversations were a big plus because they helped my group keep track of how each discussion developed without losing the flow.

Cons

I'd change the way notifications are managed, it could be a bit more simple to switch certain alerts on and off.

Reliable messaging and video calls

Pros

It has really improved how our team communicates with real-time messaging and calls. It also makes it simple to find reports since the search feature helps pull up records quickly. Getting started was simple and using it day to day has been just as simple. The video conferencing has been excellent as well.

Cons

I haven't run into any difficulties with it.

No more switching between apps

Pros

Fits really well with tools like Google Drive and Asana so I don't have to keep switching between apps all day. That cuts down on interruptions and helps me stay productive. The extended connect feature is also really useful because it lets me reach people in other groups quickly and keeps communication simple.

Cons

constant messages can be annoying when I have all my channels open. It can become a bit much. The pricing can also be a downside especially for certain teams or businesses that may not be able to afford the higher-tier plans.

Keeps everyone actively engaged

Pros

Working in it feels very simple and the workspace is easy to navigate when collaborating with teams and even across different business units. It does a really good job of keeping everyone informed, connected and actively engaged with updates and ongoing project activities.

Cons

From my perspective, the pricing feels a little high compared with the features and overall capabilities it offers. It's still a really solid tool but it would be more worthwhile if the cost were lowered a bit or if additional features were included to better justify the price.

Android version practically unusable

Pros

On Windows PCs, the software runs reliably. The Huddles and list features are especially useful.

Cons

Unfortunately, the Android app is no longer usable. For about three weeks now, it has essentially stopped working on a large portion of our 40 devices running Android 13. Support has not been helpful with this issue and only keeps putting us off with generic responses.

Useful tools

Pros

Custom project channels make it simple to organize conversations and tools like message threads, file sharing, plus audio and video calls help keep everyone informed. It also makes communication across all our departments much more manageable without flooding our email inboxes.

Cons

There's no way to return to a conversation with a deactivated member which can be a real problem if important business information was shared in that chat.

Lightweight interface

Pros

The standout for me is the lightweight, quick interface. Even though Microsoft Teams can get bogged down when too many links are shared, Slack stays efficient. Using message reminders has also made it much easier to keep my communication organized.

Cons

At times, it does get frustrating. When alerts aren't filtered, the volume can become overwhelming. I also usually switch between Teams and Zoom for video calls since the platform offers fewer built-in videoconferencing options.

They resolve issues quickly

Pros

Recently, it added a video conferencing feature and it lets me handle online meetings directly in the platform.

Cons

I've been using it for more than eight years and whenever any issue has come up, it has never lasted more than two hours before the vendor's technical team resolved it.

Best app i've ever used

Pros

Right from the start, it felt packed with incredibly impressive features and useful tools. It lets me access things I didn't even realize were possible before. it's the best application I've used in my entire life.

Cons

Privacy and security are actually some of the strongest parts of this platform. It's a wonderful application and the thing I appreciated most was how secure it feels.
