“Love this product

Pros

As an experienced HR Manager working in small companies, I had never used an HRIS system before. BambooHR was intuitive to learn and offers so many different options. My favorite feature is the live customer service support available whenever I have questions!

Cons

Benefits administration can be challenging for reporting if you do not pay for the upgrade.

“Unethical pricing practices, poor customer service/poor treatment of loyal longstanding customers

Pros

BambooHR has made the administrative side of HR much easier for us. It simplifies tracking, sends automatic reminders, clearly displays information to staff and makes performance reviews, onboarding and offboarding a simple task. It has truly elevated our staffing processes. We were very disappointed when their business practices forced us to find an alternative.

Cons

After being a loyal customer for almost four years, BambooHR restructured their subscription packages and downgraded us from the top tier to the mid tier. They also moved some of the add-on features we were paying extra for into the top tier. They told us that unless we upgraded at a 75% price increase, we would lose access to those features. The purpose of subscription software is to pay for ongoing development and updates, so it feels completely wrong to force existing customers to pay more for legacy software. I tried negotiating, hoping for a compromise like allowing us into the top tier for those features or offering a temporary discount. They refused to work with me, would not let me speak to a manager, and insisted I had to accept the full price increase to keep features I had been using for years. When I said I did take my business elsewhere, they were indifferent. It seems they do not value small businesses like mine. I would advise everyone to avoid BambooHR because their pricing is unreliable and they treat loyal customers poorly. It is ironic that a company focused on HR does not understand how to treat its customers well.

“A user friendly and functional HRIS system

Pros

I like the flexibility in the reporting function, whether I am using standard or custom reports. Being able to customize fields and time spans for my reports is very helpful. The onboarding packet and task customization streamline the process, allowing us to automate some tasks and track their completion. For instance, we assign policies that require signatures before the start date, giving new employees the chance to review these documents and be better prepared for their first day.

Cons

My biggest frustration with the onboarding packet function is its inability to assign tasks to more than one person at a time. For instance, when I need to remind our IT team to set up equipment and accounts for a new hire, I have to create separate tasks for each IT member instead of assigning one task to the entire group. It would be helpful if I could use the existing groupings by access level to assign tasks to the whole team.

“A simple and user-friendly HRIS for any workplace

Pros

A very simple and user-friendly interface. Every button seems purposeful and I can easily locate every page and resource I need. One feature I particularly enjoy is the personal document archive, which keeps all professional documents from offer letters to promotion letters, readily accessible whenever I need them.

Cons

BambooHR does not fully integrate all HRIS functions in one place. Although it handles document tracking, time-off requests and org charts, it lacks features for performance reviews and does not provide information on total rewards and compensation. To become a true standalone HRIS software, BambooHR could improve by including these additional features.

“Great HR and Payroll Tool for a Small Organization

BambooHR has user-friendly interface that makes it easy for both HR professionals and employees to navigate and use its features. This is a significant advantage, especially for smaller companies that may not have dedicated HR staff.

Cons

While BambooHR performs well with core HR functionalities, it falls short on some advanced features like comprehensive performance management tools and robust applicant tracking capabilities found in more extensive HRIS systems. Additionally, the pricing can be a concern, especially as more features are added with higher tiers. It might not be the best option for companies with a very tight budget.

“Perfect price for a small team

Pros

The Essential Plan works perfectly for our small team since pricing is based on usage and we never exceed 4 users. Our volume changes frequently, so this flexible model saves us significant money while still giving us access to all features. Email support has been excellent too and they've been really helpful answering all my startup questions as a new user.

Cons

Chat support would be really helpful since there's so much to learn with all the functionality. Email support works fine but having someone to chat with would make things much easier when you're trying to figure stuff out.

Its very user-friendly. Their IT support and customer service teams are excellent and really helpful when you need assistance.

The interface is incredibly interactive, I picked it up quickly without much training. Navigation feels natural and everything is where you'd expect it to be. It covers all the essential functionality for tracking applicants and managing their profiles effectively.

It doesn't have all the advanced features you'll find in platforms like Greenhouse or Bullhorn, though it covers the essentials to keep things organized.

“Reduces HR workload by quite a margin

Pros

Bamboo is highly professional HR management software, and it performs much better than other standard HR software packages Ive tested. The overall look and feel of the software is very modern, which adds to the user experience. Staff members are generally pleased and found it easy to use. To me, the ability to manage around 200 peoples payroll, performance, and time tracking with attendance are the main standout features. I have been doing all of it with little to no help from others, and that says a lot about the software.

Cons

Tracking training progress and benefit administration are by far the most tedious tasks the HR department has to look after. While benefits are taken care of by BambooHR (technically), I wish they added third-party integrations for training systems as well. so that both of my tasks can be accomplished in a single place, which would save a lot of time and effort. And for the benefits part, bamboo helps us by interfacing with our third-party benefits administration software, which requires a lot of additional steps. This could be eliminated if bamboo had native-plant support.
