Agile PLM

Pros

Building reusable cookbooks makes it fast to deploy, update and standardize servers across different environments which really improves the way infrastructure is managed. The testing ecosystem around Chef is another part I value a lot especially tools like Test Kitchen and InSpec. Being able to test infrastructure code locally in isolated environments before it ever reaches live servers adds a lot of confidence and helps make sure changes do not break production. Test Kitchen makes it easy to validate Chef cookbooks in clean virtual environments before release, while InSpec provides readable tests that automatically verify system configurations and compliance rules. Used together, they remove a lot of guesswork and help prevent costly production misconfigurations. Getting started with Chef Workstation and newer CLI tools such as chef-generate was fairly easy overall. After the initial server connection and authentication keys were set up, bootstrapping new nodes over SSH became a fast and automated task. Progress Chef also fits nicely into our existing workflow. We use Git for cookbook source control, Terraform for provisioning cloud infrastructure and Jenkins to automate testing and deployments with Test Kitchen and InSpec.

Cons

Managing a server and setting up agents across a large server fleet can add quite a bit of operational overhead. On heavily loaded nodes, client runs can sometimes affect performance and take longer than expected. The initial configuration management setup can also feel more complicated than necessary when the deployment is very small or simple.

Pros

PLM is a powerful tool. We draft, review and store numerous documents in PLM without experiencing any issues like software slowdown or crashes. I also like that individuals can create their own bookmarks.

Cons

The interface feels somewhat outdated and not always user-friendly, even for simple tasks like opening/downloading documents. Our company didn't set it up, so it might reflect our company's decisions. The search feature is also not very helpful.

Pros

My experience with Agile PLM primarily revolves around checking various documents related to product changes, specifications, and quality requirements. Overall, I find it to be an excellent tool that provides easy access to updated information about projects being worked on by colleagues in different departments. It covers areas such as change development processes, supply change requirements, regulatory processes, labeling implementation and more. As a collaborative tool, it proves to be highly beneficial and helps keep the entire team involved and informed about projects that may directly or indirectly impact their work.

Cons

Overall, it looks good but there is room for improvement in terms of user interface to make it more friendly and with a better layout. An alternative dashboard would be beneficial.
