Bluebeam Revu Cost: An All-in-One Construction Project Management Tool

What is Bluebeam Revu?

Overview

Bluebeam Revu is a construction project management software for architects, engineers, and contractors to create, edit, collaborate, and share PDF documents on the go and in the office. The platform exists to help improve workflows among team members in real-time, and includes features for built-in markup and hyperlink tools, permission settings, and live activity feeds.

What is Bluebeam Revu Best For?

Bluebeam Revu is primarily known for its extensive features that allow for PDF markup, creation, and management within Microsoft Office and computer-aided design (CAD) programs. In addition, the platform is also widely-used to edit 2D and 3D PDFs inside different programs and to verify length, area, perimeter, radius, and volume measurements.

Users will be able to sync PDFs or entire folders without interruption from Dropbox, Box, WebDAV, ShareFile, and Studio Projects. Regardless of internet access, teams will still be able to access and edit PDFs on Studio Projects created in Revu.

Start Studio Sessions or join existing ones to collaborate with fellow engineers in real time and chat with and follow any user’s view as they markup the PDFs.

Bluebeam Revu Cost

Bluebeam Revu offers three different pricing options suited for projects both in the field and the office. Each comes with a combination of Bluebeam Revu and Bluebeam Cloud (for web and mobile devices).

The platform’s ‘Basics’ and ‘Core’ tiers, which are billed annually at $240 and $300 per user respectively, provides toolsets allowing users to collaborate on small- and mid-sized AECO projects. Its third tier, ‘Complete’, is priced at $400 per user and offers the platform’s complete set of features needed to mark up and manage office and project documents at scale.

Bluebeam Revu Software Features

  1. Bluebeam Studio

Bluebeam Studio is a cloud-based solution for team collaboration, where you can manage studio projects digitally anywhere and any time on any device, including desktop, tablet PC, or iPad.

Bluebeam Studio contains two main sides, Projects and Sessions. With Projects, you can store unlimited PDFs and other file types in the cloud, while Sessions lets team members comment on the same 2D or 3D PDF in real time.

  1. Markup Tracking Technology

Bluebeam Revu’s Markups List is built on advanced markup tracking technology, letting users see an annotation’s author, status, date, time, and other essential property information. You’re also able to import and export markups, drag and drop to reorder columns and create your own Custom Columns for personalized lists.

  1. Automation Tools for Document Comparison

With Bluebeam Revu’s Compare Documents feature, users no longer need to go through the trouble of manually spotting revision errors on their documents. You can instantly view changes made between revisions, with automated functions letting Bluebeam Revu rotate, scale, and align drawings for users in real-time.

  1. Bluebeam Revu Sets

Sets allow Bluebeam Revu you to access and view unlimited PDF files in one tab as if they were a single document, without causing any modifications to any of the associated files in any way. You can browse through files selected for inclusion in a set within the same thumbnail view, or share Sets with team members in a read-only format.

Is Bluebeam Revu Right for You and Your Business?

Bluebeam software is a tried-and-tested project management tool that has enabled architects, engineers, and small businesses to share and make changes to important project details from start to finish.

Architects have recommended the platform for its strong team collaboration features, as well as its ability to markup project drawings by multiple stakeholders. Users have also found Bluebeam’s features for PDF editing and creation easy to follow and reliable for first-time users.

However, some have raised concerns about the lack of certain features. For instance, users on Bluebeam Revu are currently unable to edit each other's markups. Others have commented about software crashes, particularly on the iOS app version.

Highly recommended for AECO businesses!

March 2023

Stephanie P.

Engineering

Pros:
Bluebeam Revu is a great tool for our small engineering business. We use it to create, review, and collaborate on documents with ease. The platform lets us easily make changes and keep track of markups made by team members in real-time. I’m really impressed with how user-friendly the interface is, making it easy for new users to get up to speed quickly with the features offered.
Cons:
The only con would be that its mobile app isn't as robust as its desktop version yet. The addition of more features on its mobile app would certainly be welcome. Other than that, I highly recommend Bluebeam Revu for AECO businesses!

Excellent PDF editing and management tool!

Architecture

Pros:
Bluebeam Revu is an excellent PDF editing and management tool. The platform has everything we need to create, edit, collaborate, and share documents quickly and easily. I especially love the customizable user interface that lets us pin our most used tools for easy access. The integration of other software also makes it convenient for us to use Revu as part of our workflow.
Cons:
One issue that made me give a lower score was that Revu's mobile app can be slow at times. It’s not a major problem but can be annoying when you’re trying to work on the go. Aside from that, I highly recommend it!

A long list of helpful features makes Revu stand out!

Construction

Pros:
I have been using Bluebeam Revu for over three years now and have been very impressed with the features it offers. The ability to mark up PDFs, create and edit drawings, and collaborate in real time with team members has been a major plus for our business. The platform is easy to use and its customer support team is incredibly helpful.
Cons:
The only issue I have encountered with Revu is that the collaboration features are not available in the mobile app. That caused some confusion with remote team members and required us to find a workaround. Other than that, it’s been a great experience!

Above and beyond what competition can offer!

Project Coordinator Construction

Pros:
It was sold to me as documentation software but it is far more than that. Bluebeam is a complete solution for any construction work, which has made everything so easy for me. It allows drawings to be overlaid to show where changes have been made. This also applies to contracts. I can overlay the pages to see if the paper was altered at all. I'm also able to convert PDFs into forms instantly.
Cons:
Initially, it took me quite a long while to learn this software due to a different layout. And there are a lot of icons for the various functions the software can perform. This makes it a tad more difficult to master. However, I was able to modify the layout to my liking, which minimized this issue.

Ideal for PDF management.

Construction

Pros:
I have been in the field of construction for about 10 years now and I have yet to come across a PDF software as good as Bluebeam, at least in this field. Our project managers and estimators all have Bluebeam Revu, which has made its integration easier. It has an excellent way of managing bookmarks and text recognition so we have been able to improve the quality of work greatly over time.
Cons:
I haven’t been a fan of the look they’ve chosen after the last update. And some of our users find the huge amount of menus, buttons, and options overwhelming, but that is true to be expected from software with so many features.

Review from a long term user. Great software even if it is hard to learn

Construction

Pros:
I always use it to view and modify PDF files. It is very simple and easy to provide the managers or vendors with whatever info they may require to measure something. PDFs are highly customizable and notes can be added to any misinterpretation is ruled out. I absolutely love the fact that the toolbox I set just once, in the beginning, has been saved and is ready for me to access whenever I launch the software.
Cons:
There’s no easy way of learning Revu in my opinion. You really have to put all the effort in it or hire someone with enough expertise to fully reap its benefits. However, it's fantastic once you figure it out.

Must-have software for construction companies

January 2023

Construction

Pros:
Bluebeam has proven to be immensely useful. I can create all of my RFIs, shop drawings, and detailed clarifications from as many sources as I want. There have been so many instances when I came up with fresh uses for the default tools that come with the software. Saves a lot of cost and time!
Cons:
Bluebeam doesn't bode well with all of the fonts we use at the company. It has had some trouble handling some of the PDFs, which appear to be broken but are fine when we preview it outside of the software.

Technical features that can handle complex tasks

January 2023

Ajinkya D

Civil Engineering

Pros:
It might look like just another PDF editor clone but trust me when I say that it’s beyond your expectations! Bluebeam is geared toward technical jobs with capabilities like revision clouds and grid lines etc. It is simple to annotate the drawings. I also appreciate the ability to compare two documents by simply placing them on top of one another. It is that easy.
Cons:
There are so many features and buttons that it can occasionally be difficult to locate exactly what you need. I found Adobe Acrobat Pro to be easier to use in such cases. However, Bluebeam Revu is designed for technical organizations, whereas Adobe is targeted at general document reviews. I would like to have the option to toggle between a complex Adobe-like user interface and a more straightforward one.

Great for construction and very economical (for large organizations)

Architecture & Planning

Pros:
One of the best features of Bluebeam is no doubt the real-time collaboration. It supports multiple users to work simultaneously in a single file when posted to a session. If one user is marking up and adding remarks, others may simultaneously read these comments and make changes of their own.
Cons:
In all honesty, the only drawback I found is the learning curve. It is quite difficult to master the software and there’s not much self-help available which I needed the most.

Comprehensive suite of features but no customization

December 2022

Christopher M.

Construction

Pros:
Bluebeam Revu has a comprehensive suite of features for PDF editing, markups, and collaboration. The integration with other software is also great and makes it easier for us to use the platform as part of our workflow. We also appreciate the customizable toolbox that lets us pin commonly used tools to save time.
Cons:
The only downside is that the platform doesn’t offer any customization options for its interface. It would be nice to have the ability to customize it according to our needs and preferences. That can cause some confusion when training new users. Other than that, we’re really happy with the platform!

Useful tool for construction

December 2022

Audrey T.

Civil Engineering

Pros:
I love how it seamlessly integrates with our Civil 3D for drafting and creating drawings. The use of it for engineering drawings is quick and easy. The option to calibrate your own scale and measure quantities to scale is one outstanding feature. And with remote working, you can use it to create markups and redlines on PDF documents instead of by hand.
Cons:
It takes some time to rediscover the Bluebeam functions because the UI is frequently changed during yearly software version releases.
