Proteus Software Features
Proposal Builder
It offers a comprehensive template where users can input all the necessary details to create professional proposals for clients. These details include project description, schedule, required resources, costs, and risks. Upon approval, the proposal can be easily converted into a manageable project.
Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
The Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) feature enables users to divide projects into smaller, more manageable components known as work packages. These work packages can be organized hierarchically to represent the necessary steps for project completion. The WBS provides structure to complex projects and facilitates the management of objectives, timelines, resources, and budgets.
Work Packages
Closely linked to the WBS, work packages are the smallest work components that must be completed to deliver the project's objectives. In Proteus, work packages are assigned details like description, duration, dependencies, resources needed, and more. This allows all project work to be properly defined and tracked.
Project Controls
Project controls refer to the collection of tools in Proteus that help establish baseline plans and monitor performance so that projects stay on track. This includes scope management, change control, risk management, issue logging, budgeting, forecasting, progress reporting, and more. Strong project controls promote visibility, accountability, and predictability.
Variations
Track and manage any approved changes to the project baseline. This could include scope variances, cost overruns/underruns, timeline shifts, etc. Tracking variations ensures all stakeholders know of deviations from the plan and its impact on overall project objectives.
Cost Management
This feature helps in establishing a cost baseline and tracks actual costs incurred in comparison to the project budget. Users can record costs by cost code, work package, and cost type. Cost data can be analyzed to identify trends, forecast future expenses, and catch overruns.
Time Management
The time tracking feature allows resources to log their time by work package or activity on a weekly or daily basis. Supervisors can also review and approve timesheets. Accurate time tracking ensures projects stay on schedule and facilitates resource planning, productivity analysis, and billing.

“Optimize projects using Proteus”
Pros
This tool helps me manage and track very large projects or even smaller ones. It is very interesting for my company, which needs to implement new projects quite frequently. Predefined settings easily show me the possible spending on a given project. The web platform works very well and integrates with many specific APIs.
Cons
The biggest difficulty I faced was getting my team to accept the new tool, especially since we never used any tool to manage projects in the past.
