What Is MineralTree?
MineralTree is a cloud-based invoice-to-pay platform. The platform is designed for mid-market and enterprise businesses and covers the full accounts payable process. It automatically captures invoices and routes them to the appropriate approvers. MineralTree features PO matching, duplicate invoice detection, and cash-back rebates through virtual card payments. It integrates directly with leading ERP systems, which allows businesses to keep using the tools they already have.
What Is MineralTree Best For?
MineralTree is best known for its payment optimization capability. Most AP tools automate invoice processing, but MineralTree goes further by analyzing a company's existing payment mix. It identifies where virtual cards, ACH, or other methods can reduce costs and generate cash-back rebates. This makes it a strong fit for mid-sized finance teams that want to reduce AP costs, not just automate the workflow. Controllers and CFOs also use it to improve payment efficiency and gain better visibility over cash flow.
How Much Does MineralTree Cost?
MineralTree’s pricing is estimated to start at $5,000/year. This figure is based on industry benchmarks and typical entry points and is intended for general budgeting purposes.
In addition to the subscription fee, businesses implementing MineralTree should account for the following potential costs:
- Invoice Processing Fees: Typically estimated at $1.00 to $3.00/invoice processed
- Payment Processing Fees: Electronic ACH payments range from $0.40 to $1.00 each, while paper checks printed and mailed on behalf of the company can range from $1.50 to $3.00/check
- Implementation And Onboarding: Mid-market ERP integrations typically carry a one-time implementation fee ranging from $1,000 to $5,000
- Optional Modules: Add-on modules include multi-entity management and PO matching. These are custom-quoted and typically add a 15%–30% premium to the base fee
Reviewers generally describe MineralTree as higher-priced than comparable options. Some note that costs can increase significantly over time, with per-transaction fees adding to the annual subscription. Mid-market users, however, find it affordable and consider the platform quality worth the investment.

MineralTree Use Cases
Based on our analysis of user reviews and MineralTree's current capabilities, we have identified key scenarios where this software is a good fit for finance and accounting teams:
Growing Companies Handling More Invoices
Some mid-sized businesses see invoice volume grow faster than their team size. When this happens, manual data entry becomes the first problem. MineralTree automates invoice capture and coding, so the existing team can handle more work without hiring additional staff. Users note this is one of the most immediate benefits after implementation.
Organizations Where Invoice Approvals Involve Non-Finance Staff
Many businesses require department heads or budget owners to authorize invoices before payment. Chasing these approvers by email is slow and unreliable. MineralTree routes invoices to the right person automatically and sends reminders on behalf of the AP team. Approvers can review and sign off from any device without accessing a separate system.
Finance Teams That Need Audit-Ready Records
Accounting teams that manage physical paperwork often struggle when audit season arrives. Retrieving specific invoices or approval records from paper files takes significant time. MineralTree stores invoices digitally and links each one to its approval history and payment record. It also maintains audit trails through standardized approvals and role-based permissions, so every action is logged and traceable.
Accounting Departments Moving Away From Paper Check Runs
Organizations still running paper checks deal with slow, manual processes at every step. Printing, signing, mailing, and reconciling checks consumes AP staff time every payment cycle. MineralTree handles ACH, virtual card, and paper check payments within a single workflow. Teams can schedule payments in advance and reduce the hands-on effort required per transaction.
Non-Profit Teams Managing Payments Across Multiple Approvers
Non-profits often involve several stakeholders in the payment process, from department leads to board-level signatories. Without a structured system, teams lose track of who has approved what. MineralTree separates invoice authorization from payment execution through role-based controls. Staff can review and approve invoices without needing full accounting system access.
Is MineralTree Right For You?
MineralTree is a good fit for mid-sized businesses that need to scale their AP operations securely. It is suitable for finance teams managing growing invoice volumes with strict payment controls.
The platform is regularly audited against SOX, SOC 1 Type 2, SOC 2 Type 2, and SOC2+/HIPAA standards. Its payments platform is also PCI DSS Level 1 compliant. It additionally maintains compliance with GDPR for organizations handling European data. Beyond compliance, the platform has proven industry trust and has been named a Deloitte Technology Fast 500 winner three consecutive years.

MineralTree Features
Virtual Cards
MineralTree's virtual card feature assigns single-use, tokenized card numbers to each payment, tied to a specific supplier and amount. The software delivers each card to the vendor by email. It processes payments approved by 7 PM Eastern on the same day. Finance teams earn cash-back rebates on eligible spend, with no per-transaction fees.
Inspyrus Enterprise AP Automation
Inspyrus automates the full invoice-to-pay process using AI, machine learning, and intelligent document processing. It supports global e-invoicing compliance across 130+ countries. Organizations can deploy consistent workflows across multiple business units from a single application. MineralTree also connects with multiple ERPs simultaneously within the same environment.
Embedded Vendor Payments
Finance teams using Sage Intacct can approve and pay vendor bills directly within their accounting environment. The platform funds payments from existing bank accounts, with all activity posting in real time. Users can track each payment at every stage from request to completion.
TotalAP
TotalAP automates the full AP workflow, covering invoice capture, approval routing, payment authorization, and payment optimization within a single platform. The tool also provides built-in role-based access, dual approvals, duplicate detection, and two-factor authentication to reduce fraud risk.
TotalPay
TotalPay is MineralTree's vendor payment automation solution. The finance team decides which vendors to pay and sets the payment date. TotalPay then determines the most suitable payment method for each vendor and processes the payment. It completes reconciliation once per payment run rather than per individual transaction.

“solid layout but approval delays”
Pros
After moving our accounts payable process to this software last year, submitting invoices to finance has been fairly smooth! The interface and overall functions are definitely two of its stronger points!
Cons
Things get frustrating when multiple approvers or budget managers are part of the workflow because the system can become slow and end up delaying invoice payments. On top of that making edits or correcting pre-loaded invoices is not easy at all.

“All in one!”
Pros
Everything connected really well with our accounting system (Sage Intacct) and the setup was quick. It's also nice having a complete solution in one place! From invoice capture to routing and payments, all within the same application.
Cons
There's not much to complain about. The only thing that would make it better is being able to message or email staff with questions about an invoice directly inside the application.
