What Is budget4cast?

budget4cast is a cloud-based construction budgeting platform for owners, developers, and owners’ representatives to plan, track, and forecast project costs. Customizable budget codes reduce spreadsheet rework and keep reporting consistent. Linked contract, invoice, and change order logs tie documents to line items for cleaner actuals. Cash flow tools, including linear or S-curve profiles with forecast versus actual views, help flag shortfalls early and time disbursements confidently.

Is budget4cast Right For You?

budget4cast suits owners, developers, and owners’ reps who want focused construction budgeting rather than a full project suite. Standout strengths include cash flow modeling with linear or S-curve profiles, funding source tracking for restricted funds, and unlimited users under a project license. It fits education and public capital programs needing clear audit trails and roll-up reporting.

budget4cast Features

Teams configure budget codes and work breakdown structure to mirror internal categories, then reorganize as projects evolve without losing history. Consistent structures cut spreadsheet rework and simplify audits by keeping calculations, naming, and reporting aligned across jobs, so month-end packages require fewer manual reconciliations and corrections.

See How It Works

Contract, invoice, and change order logs connect directly to budget line items, with PDFs attached for source documentation. Requested and approved changes are tracked alongside commitments and actuals, so totals reconcile cleanly and reviewers can follow each adjustment through to posting. This reduces omissions and helps standardize approvals.

See How It Works

Cash flow tools let managers schedule expected spend by budget code using linear or S-curve profiles, or set manual monthly amounts where needed. Forecast versus actual views highlight timing variances early and support draw planning with fewer surprises. These budget4cast features help time disbursements and maintain funding visibility.

See How It Works

Projects with multiple funding sources can create separate pools, assign budgets to each, and produce roll-up reports that show remaining capacity by source. Bonds, private capital, and restricted funds are tracked transparently, which helps schools and public programs meet audit requirements while keeping allocation decisions visible to stakeholders.

See How It Works

Invite internal staff and external stakeholders with edit or view-only permissions to collaborate on a single source of truth. Reallocation records capture when, why, and who changed lines, creating an audit trail. Unlimited read-only access to archived projects and fast filtering support reference checks without additional licensing.

Dream tool for project managers

Pros

It is easy to use and has all the tools I need to track my project budget. I can import invoices and contracts which keeps everything in one place. The auto forecast tool is a big help in setting aside funds for expenses that I know will be needed but don't want to show as available. Plus, the reports are easy to read and export.

Cons

Honestly, I can't think of anything I don't like about it.

Need a subscription plan for students

Pros

It's versatile and allowed me to present data exactly how I needed it.

Cons

It would be really helpful to create more video tutorials and quick sheets for new users. Also, offering extended trials and subscription plans for students and young professionals could help users get more proficient and spread the word about the software's capabilities.
