Key Takeaways
Generated from the text of customer reviews
Practice Better is a cloud-based EHR and practice management platform used by dietitians, health coaches, and naturopathic professionals. Users consistently praise its simplicity in building forms, tasks, and protocols, while some note that client-facing features feel less intuitive. Recently, Practice Better rolled out an update that pulls client documents directly into the client hub.
Our Verdict
Practice Better is a dependable choice for solo and small-to-mid-sized wellness practices needing coordinated scheduling, charting, and client engagement in one system. Pricing is reasonable for the features offered, but it can become expensive for practices with fewer than 200 active clients. We recommend it for growing practices prioritizing consolidation over rock-bottom pricing.

What Is Practice Better?
Practice Better is a cloud-based EHR and practice management platform built for health and wellness professionals. It combines scheduling, charting, billing, telehealth, and client communication into one system. Its unified setup helps practices manage both administrative and client-facing workflows without relying too heavily on multiple separate tools.
What Is Practice Better Best For?
One of Practice Better’s stronger capabilities is its client portal, which extends practice workflows directly to clients. From the portal, clients can book or reschedule sessions, complete forms, send secure messages, access programs and resources, and pay invoices. It also supports food, activity, and habit tracking, with integrations for Apple Health, Fitbit, Garmin, and Oura.
How Much Does Practice Better Cost?
Practice Better pricing starts at $35/month for the Starter plan. More plans are outlined below:
- Professional: $69/month
- Plus: $99/month
- Team: $155/month
Practices can also include the following add-ons to their plans:
- AI Charting Assistant: $0.60/hour
- ePrescribe: $49/month, plus a one-time onboarding fee of $99 per prescribing practitioner
- PDMP Add-On: $5/month with an ePrescribe plan, plus a one-time fee of $399 per prescribing practitioner
- Additional Practitioner: $50/month
- Additional storage: $1/GB/month
- SMS reminders: $0.05/text
- Send and receive faxes: $0.10/page
Users generally describe Practice Better as reasonably priced for the features it offers, but some feel that the platform has become increasingly expensive over time. Smaller practices, particularly those with fewer than 200 active clients, may find the overall cost less cost-effective, especially as pricing increases and additional fees accumulate.

Practice Better Use Cases
After analyzing user feedback and an assessment of Practice Better’s capabilities, we’ve identified use cases where the platform may be a good fit:
Health Coaches Moving Past One-On-One Coaching
Many health coaches hit a ceiling once their calendars fill up with individual sessions. Practice Better lets coaches package their expertise into fixed-date, evergreen, or self-paced courses, so income stops depending entirely on hours worked. Coaches can track client progress inside those programs and layer in AI-assisted charting to cut down time spent on notes.
Dietitians Handling Meal Planning Alongside Clinical Documentation
Dietitians often run two workflows side by side: clinical charting and food-specific tracking. Practice Better addresses this by integrating with That Clean Life for recipe libraries and meal plans, while keeping SOAP and ADIME note templates in the same system. Food and mood journaling functions work alongside billing and scheduling, so nutrition-specific tasks don’t require a separate app.
Chiropractors Managing High Patient Volume With Recurring Treatment Plans
Chiropractic care often involves frequent, short visits and treatment plans that span weeks or months. Practice Better's scheduling tools automate booking, reminders, and follow-ups, which matters when a single practitioner is seeing a high volume of returning patients. Billing runs through Stripe-powered payments with automated reminders for overdue invoices, reducing manual chasing on the admin side.
Naturopathic Doctors Building Long-Term, Habit-Based Protocols
Naturopathic care leans heavily on lifestyle and supplement recommendations that need to stay consistent across visits. Practice Better's protocol tools let naturopaths save and reuse food, supplement, and lifestyle plans, then pair them with journaling tools that track daily habits over time. Integrations with programs like Apple Health and Fitbit feed activity and sleep data directly into that same client record.
Is Practice Better Right For You?
If your health or wellness practice needs scheduling, charting, billing, telehealth, and client engagement in one system, Practice Better can be a good fit. The platform meets HIPAA, PIPEDA, and GDPR requirements, with AES-256 encryption and nightly backups of client data. Payments run through Stripe and Square, both certified at PCI Level 1.

Practice Better Features
Branding
The branding feature lets practitioners add their logo, brand colors, and a custom URL to the client portal, then extend that same branding to emails, appointment reminders, invoices, and PDF documents like forms and protocols.
Templates
Practice Better's template library holds prebuilt intake forms, session note formats, and program templates that practitioners can duplicate and edit rather than build from scratch. Note templates come in SOAP, ADIME, DAP, BIRP, and custom formats, and conditional logic lets a single intake form show or hide sections depending on the service type a client selects.
Charting
The software supports structured session notes with SOAP, ADIME, DAP, BIRP, and custom templates. Practitioners can attach protocols, labs, and tasks directly to notes, save reusable snippets, and keep documentation connected to the client record. Its optional AI Charting Assistant add-on adds AI Summary for recording, transcribing, and summarizing telehealth, Zoom, and in-person sessions, along with AI Dictation for speech-to-text note capture.
Programs
Practice Better programs and courses feature lets practitioners create, manage, and sell structured online health and wellness programs beyond traditional one-on-one sessions. Practitioners can build challenges, memberships, group programs, and courses, allowing them to package their expertise into repeatable learning experiences and work with clients over a longer period.

“easy daily lessons”
Pros
Using this tool has been really easy for me especially because the platform includes short lessons that they provide every day so users can get the most out of the product. Also when I run into an issue with the site, I book an appointment with their team for the very next day to get it sorted out so between their responsive customer support and the affordable pricing I've been very satisfied overall.
Cons
Initially I found the system somewhat tricky and a little overwhelming yet after seeking out the readily available guidance and following a few clear instructions I discovered that the issues I faced were easy to address and quickly resolved.

“Customizable templates and reports but priceyy”
Pros
One thing I appreciate is the ability to customize templates to match our workflow and I can run reports for billing and to check outstanding balances. It also sends appointment reminders and offers built-in telehealth.
Cons
Sometimes I notice that at least once every month there's some kind of glitch notification which really shakes my confidence in the system and for small practices with under 200 active clients the pricing just doesn't feel worth it.

“aligned client onboarding”
Pros
Taking the time to set up this tool has absolutely paid off for me because it aligns client onboarding and puts most of the everyday tools I rely on for my practice right at my fingertips eliminating the need to juggle a separate booking app or invoicing software. I can also handle appointments, reminders and billing all from one dashboard and their ready-made templates save me a lot of time too.
Cons
It bothers me that the platform still doesn't offer capture pages or landing pages so I'm stuck using other tools whenever I need them.
