Lessonspace comes with a collaborative whiteboard that provides tools for drawing, typing, annotating, and explaining concepts during online lessons. Instructors can also use subject-specific tools, including an equation and graph editor, and import PDFs or Office documents for annotation. This gives teachers one shared space for presenting material, working through examples, and marking up resources with students.

The platform supports live video sessions for up to 10 participants, with simultaneous webcam and screen-sharing feeds and four video layout options. Its chat supports emoji reactions and Markdown, while a worldwide server network helps maintain low-latency connections. These tools let instructors combine verbal explanations, visual demonstrations, and written discussion without switching between separate platforms.

Instructors can control participant access and activity during lessons by remotely muting microphones, turning off video feeds, or removing and banning participants when necessary. Leader-follower functionality also lets teachers guide students through the same lesson content, while a built-in timer helps structure activities. Together, these controls make it easier to manage participation and keep lessons organized.
