Cloud Academy Use Cases

The following scenarios highlight where Cloud Academy is typically a strong fit, based on user feedback and the platform’s capabilities.

Distributed Enterprises With Standardized Cloud Training Needs

Large organizations with teams spread across regions often face inconsistencies in cloud knowledge and technical skill levels. Cloud Academy helps centralize learning programs so all employees follow aligned training paths regardless of location or department. This ensures a consistent baseline of cloud competency across engineering, IT, and operations teams. It also supports better coordination in organizations working on shared cloud infrastructure or multi-cloud environments.

IT Organizations Focused On Cloud Certification Programs

IT departments that prioritize certifications for AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud use structured learning platforms for preparation efforts. Cloud Academy provides guided certification pathways that help teams organize study plans around exam requirements. This reduces dependency on scattered learning resources and supports more predictable certification outcomes. Managers can also monitor progress to understand readiness levels across teams.

Enterprises Running Internal Upskilling And Workforce Transition Programs

Organizations undergoing digital transformation often need to reskill existing employees rather than rely solely on external hiring. Cloud Academy supports structured learning programs that map skills to job roles and internal career paths. HR and L&D teams can assign targeted training based on identified skill gaps across the workforce. This makes it easier to transition employees into cloud-related or technical roles over time.

Technical Recruitment Teams Assessing Candidate Skills

Recruitment teams hiring for cloud and technical roles often require more reliable validation methods beyond interviews and resumes. Cloud Academy enables structured assessments that evaluate practical cloud skills before hiring decisions are made. These assessments help hiring managers better understand candidate readiness for real-world technical tasks. This approach is especially useful for roles requiring hands-on cloud platform experience.

Is Cloud Academy Right For You?

Cloud Academy could be an excellent choice if your business wants to empower your teams with multi-cloud knowledge and skills. It provides a comprehensive learning platform that can be customized to your organization's unique needs. Furthermore, it aids in career progression and enables accurate assessment of tech skills. Concerning security and compliance, Cloud Academy LMS software adheres to strict protocols to ensure the safety and privacy of its users.

Following the QA acquisition, the platform's client roster includes some of the world's most recognized enterprises. Apple partnered with QA/Cloud Academy to upskill teams in generative AI, AWS storage optimization, and containerized application deployment. Other clients include Walmart and NHS England.

Under the QA umbrella, Cloud Academy’s parent company holds security certificates like ISO 9001, 14001, 27001, and 45001 ISO. Cloud Academy’s impeccable functionality is recognized by major industry bodies, including Red Hat, Microsoft, and PECB.

Cloud Academy Features

Skills Readiness Platform

This feature allows organizations to manage and enhance their tech skills on a unified platform. It empowers teams to master multi-cloud aspects, provides insights into team skills, aids in strategic growth planning, and addresses skill gaps with immersive training. The Skill Profiles Dashboard — available to enterprise administrators and team managers — displays week-over-week Skill Growth Rate, team proficiency bar graphs, and a ranked list of top-performing users. This offers leadership a real-time, quantified view of organizational competency.

See How It Works
Content Engine

The Content Engine feature allows customers to customize Cloud Academy's extensive library of courses, learning paths, exams, and other skill-based content. Organizations can build new content from scratch by combining Cloud Academy's library with their internal content. This provides flexibility to manage and deliver tailored training programs. Each Content Engine is separated from other QA accounts. Custom accounts are only available to that user’s organizations and cannot be accessed from other accounts.

See How It Works
Smart Job Role Paths

Job Role Paths helps employees with focused learning in career progression planning. Create learning paths mapped to various job roles to foster career growth. This is important for retention, employee morale, and addressing skill gaps. Unlike standard paths, Smart Job Role Paths open with an adaptive Smart Assessment that automatically skips content the learner has already mastered.

See How It Works
Pre-Hire Assessments

Get insights into candidates' validated technical skills through assessments before hiring. This enables organizations to hire the candidates best suited for the roles and get them productive faster. Pre-Hire Assessments operate through a dedicated parallel account — completely separate from the main enterprise account — so candidate results never affect employee skill analytics or training data. When a candidate is hired, their pre-hire skill data and assessment results can be transferred from the pre-hire account into the organization's primary Cloud Academy account. This gives L&D teams a skills baseline for the new hire from day one.

See How It Works
Content Library

The content library remains up-to-date through continuous development and refreshment of hands-on labs and certification paths. Companies trust Cloud Academy for training courses on key technologies like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure, Google Cloud, security, and more. This helps learners stay relevant with the latest cloud and technical skills. The library now spans content beyond cloud platforms, covering AI, Data, Cybersecurity, DevOps, and Software Development.

See How It Works
SimuLabs

SimuLabs are Cloud Academy's newest lab format — immersive, scenario-based experiences that combine hands-on technical problem-solving with real-world communication practice. Learners take on an active role (such as an IT engineer handling live support tickets) and interact with an AI-powered character to gather context and reach a resolution, replicating actual on-the-job demands.

See How It Works
Ela (AI Learning Assistant)

Ela is Cloud Academy's AI-powered learning assistant, available 24/7 across courses and labs. It provides real-time explanations of complex concepts, answers course-related questions, identifies bugs, and delivers interactive knowledge checks through conversational support. Originally launched for AWS content, Ela has since been extended to cover the full online course library.

My cloud academy

Pros

Cloud Academy was my go-to for preparing for my AZ-104 certification, and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed. The delivery of the lessons was top-notch. Additionally, the affordability of the single user plan made it a great choice for me.

Cons

Since I primarily use Windows, the lack of an offline Windows application for streaming lectures was a bit disappointing, especially considering the cost associated with online streaming.

Great resource for the certification exams and good coursed

Pros

As a beginner, I find it incredibly easy to navigate through the courses and gain valuable knowledge. The wide selection of meticulously curated training programs at various levels is truly impressive. What I particularly enjoy is the Dashboard function, which provides a comprehensive view of my progress, exam results, and learning trajectory. And the best part is that they also offer lab access.

Cons

It would be great if condensed PDF versions of the lectures could be added. Additionally, in my opinion, the DevOps module could be shortened to maintain the user's attention.

responsive support win

Pros

The practice exercises are very well designed especially compared with Qwiklabs. On top of that Cloud Academy's support team is outstanding and responds very quickly.

Cons

One thing that gets annoying is how almost every video lesson gives the instructor several minutes to introduce themselves and explain where to connect with them online. On a 10 hour cloud learning path with around 30 videos, that can add up to roughly 2.5 hours spent just on intros. Even when trying to skip ahead, it can be annoying because you risk missing something important or just losing interest. Another drawback is that if you're enrolled in multiple learning journeys, the platform doesn't seem to recognize or reconcile content you may have already completed.
