From a user point of view, I feel that athena is pretty great. It is easy to use.
I am basically a new person when it comes to using EMR systems but this was easy.
The scheduling and billing modules are simple and pretty straight forward.

We don't have a lot of access to the system so updating the system on our own is something we face issues with.

It is a good software, helps a lot in many things. The internal chat feature is something that I really like about this software as it allows us to connect with other providers within our practice.

It isn’t the best choice for naturopathic medicine, the templates and many other formatting aren’t according to what we require. This is the only reason which makes it difficult to use it efficiently.

This software is one of a kind. It is sleek and it is beautiful. It is easy to use, not only for me but also for my patients as well. It gives a lot of relevant information regarding the patient and their condition. My patients like this software as well, they say that it helps them stay in the loop. Everyone isn’t health literate, so the technology that we use is very important and it also needs to be easier for everyone to use and understand.

I am currently a new user, so I don’t have much to say about this software yet. Currently, I’d say that it is expensive and can be quite slow at times.

The software is pretty easy to learn and use. The appearance is great and modern. I like the colors that they use, it gives out an amazing look to it. I also like the ability it has to create templates and also customize the software according to the user. I would recommend this software. Overall it is a great software.

There are times when you need to add longer comments or more information but due to the character limit, it becomes impossible to add more.

The system isn’t overwhelming at all. The layouts are really great and pleasant to look at. It is easy to use and navigate through. The chart navigation is easy as well.

There are times when my charting doesn’t save due to “no clicking” on another portion of the chart. But this is something that rarely happens.

Unreliable reports

Factsheet demonstrates the majority of the relevant data on every patient before an experience is open. For whatever length of time that the clinical staff has refreshed the graph effectively.

The concept of having to "vote" for improvements to be made is terrible. They have failed miserably to create a customizable practice EHR system. Changes occurred in November to the UDS reporting capacity. Reports for clinical information were a wreck, preposterous, and full of errors. They need much help with composing the rationale in their reporting criteria. I have utilized this EMR for 5 years in the front office. back office, the board, and reports. There are such a large number of workarounds for the suppliers and care staff. Their rationale in reports is crazy. The information does not pull precisely. Customer support may as well be non-existent. ACO and UDS are supposed to be logical but Athena reports work on a logic of their own and pull out data that is far from accurate I would suggest any FQHC that needs to report data to CCPM, ACO or HRSA to never use this software.

I don't like it

First of all, truly awful customer service. The software itself has nothing good to offer, it is poorly designed and has too many bugs on every corner. The only way to have your problem heard and attended is if a hundred other practices are collectively facing it. Even then they take weeks to fix it. Meanwhile, all we can do is hang tight because there is literally no other option.

They really need to hire better IT staff because the people responsible for this version of the system did a lousy job. Having to install updates is an even bigger headache.

We started on Athena Health when we first made the switch from paper records to EHR software. Since it was our first the learning curve was steep and it was impossible for us to successfully make the transition with a tech professional present in the hospital at all times. It accelerated our efficiency but the billing process was straightened out.

It doesn’t allow you to view 2 windows at once like in most EMRs. The reason I could never suggest this framework is on the grounds that they couldn’t enable us to put charts together. We were compelled to change our Tin number when our medical clinic was overtaken by another group of hospitals. They said they couldn't convey data like consults, lab trends, imaging reports and essentially all that we expected to make a smooth transition. Nothing made sense and in the ever-evolving healthcare environment with frequent acquisitions, I’d steer clear of this platform. It has been a total catastrophe for me and everybody I know in our healthcare profession.
