athenahealth EMR pros:

  • - athena EHR offers integration to several 3rd party applications through its Market Place.
  • - Their practice management solution is offered at a low price.
  • - athena EMR and patient portal have one of the cleanest and easy to navigate user interfaces.
  • - athena can be a one-stop-shop for medium to large-sized practices looking for a single vendor to meet all their needs.

athenahealth EMR cons:

  • - Current users have raised concerns about athenahealth's billing practices. If you are an athena medical billing client all your earnings will go into an account held by athena before being reimbursed to you. Some practices find this policy intrusive.
  • - It is not one of the less costly options in the market especially for smaller practices that do not need all the bells and whistles that athena EHR has to offer.
