Not recommended...

Pros

It connects with EPM for orders and billing. The fax letter feature and the pharmacy link are also great additions.

Cons

It feels feels clumsy, cumbersome and inefficient, clearly not designed by a doctor. The iPad version is so different from the desktop version that it seems like a completely different program. The contact lens ordering and finalizing process is not intuitive at all. The auto-coding feature is consistently incorrect with every VSP patient. There are far too many steps required for simple tasks like printing an Rx and the inability to "name" an Rx beyond the limited list of types is restrictive. For example, "hobby/sports" is a category but I cannot label an Rx "Music" or "Golf," which is frustrating. Ordering a soft contact lens in one eye and a hybrid in the other is challenging and RGP orders do not forward properly. The contact lens trial feature is confusing when dealing with multiple lenses and types. Its inconvenient that I have to finalize a record before sending a referral letter as the "Preliminary" label shows up on the letter to a specialist. Sometimes there is not enough time to finalize the record before sending the referral during an exam. The requirement to commit to a "Plan" before a diagnosis is not practical and dose not follow the SOAP process that doctors are trained in. Additionally, the body indicator feature interferes with clinical drawings when sketching a pathology.

Good but could be better

Pros

The auto-fill capabilities are really useful and it integrates seamlessly with my autophoropter which is fantastic.

Cons

I find myself constantly scrolling. With a 24-inch monitor, I should not need to scroll up and down repeatedly to complete an exam element. I want everything to fit within the screen and avoid having half my work area occupied by static information I do not need during an exam. Additionally, I have difficulty seeing whats on the practice management side. Much of our work involves the front desk and opticians, who only use the PM side. There is no way to communicate with the front desk or check if glasses or contacts were ordered without logging into a separate system.
