Teachable Use Cases
Based on our analysis of user feedback and Teachable features and capabilities, we have identified key scenarios where this software is a good fit for creators and education businesses:
1. Creator Validating Course Demand Before Investing In Content
A creator might spend weeks crafting the course and have no idea whether there would be enough buyers. Teachable allows sell-before-you-build strategy, enabling creators to validate the course demand prior to investing in production. Stefan Kunz, founder of Stefan Kunz Studio, used the waitlist strategy to validate his interest in an animation course that gathered 3,000 subscribers before enrolling 250 students.
2. Instructor Refining Lessons Before Turning Them Into Evergreen Courses
Oftentimes instructors find out about discrepancies in the content only after students have used it. Teachable allows creating a course via the strategy of going from live workshops to multi-week bootcamps and evergreen courses. This approach gives instructors an opportunity to see where students struggle, identify unclear explanations or gaps in the material, and gather feedback while the course is still being delivered live.
3. Education Business Selling Across Markets With Different Payment Needs
For international educators, it can be important to deal with various currencies, payment systems, and tax issues. With ‘Teachable Payments’, pricing is displayed in students’ local currency and there is support for tax calculation, collection, and remittance in 45+ countries. Youness School employs such a system, providing education to students from Morocco, France, Tunisia, and Mauritania.
4. Creator Reaching A Global Audience Without Rebuilding The Learning Experience
When there is an audience of students from various countries, it is important for creators to modify their courses according to their students’ languages. With Teachable, instructors can create video transcripts, subtitles, as well as full course translations. These options can reduce the amount of manual work involved in adapting content for different audiences while giving international learners more flexibility in how they access and understand the course.

I've found this tool helps me sell my courses easily with a built in payment option and I can track student progress clearly with the engagement overview.
Cons
One annoyance I've had is that bigger sales pages can sometimes take too long to load which slows down workflow a little.

“easy start & low cost”
Pros
Getting started with this tool was easy for me and the low cost made it accessible when I was just beginning. Organizing and laying out my course felt natural and the admin dashboard was simple to navigate.
Cons
We outgrew Teachable and needed more features, so moving to Tayl was just the right choice for our growing community and platform. Some tech issues popped up but I am sure that has long been resolved.

“Lacks support and weak analytics”
Pros
Since becoming a customer in late 2018, this tool made it simple for me to get my school online. Setting up courses, embedding videos and answering student questions was easy, though I would now be cautious recommending it to anyone looking to build a business.
Cons
Biggest challenge I've faced is the lack of support. No live chat, tickets handled in an obscure system and answers often just point me to the knowledge base. Analytics are weak too, making it hard to filter students across multiple courses without downloading and manipulating CSVs. Comment management is also clunky which complicates interactions with students.
