Key Takeaways

Generated from the text of customer reviews

SolutionReach is patient communication software for healthcare practices. Office staff use it to send reminders, texts, and intake forms. Most of its reviewers work at small healthcare offices. They value reminders most for reducing calls and missed visits. But they complain most about slow support, especially during outages. SolutionReach now sells an AI receptionist that answers calls and books visits.

Our Verdict

SolutionReach sends reminders by text instead of front-desk calls. Staff can spend that time on patients in the office, which matters most in small medical, dental, and eye care offices that are short staffed. Reviewers note that the price rises as offices send more texts and add features. We recommend SolutionReach for small offices whose patients prefer texts to calls.

What Is SolutionReach?

SolutionReach, whose name before 2011 was Communitect and Smile Reminder, is a platform that sends messages to patients before and after each appointment. Staff can use it on a computer or through its iOS and Android apps. Before an appointment, the platform allows new patients to fill out their forms online.

When patients arrive, they can check in from their phones by text or QR code. For patients who cannot come to the office, SolutionReach offers video visits through a link in a text message. After the appointment, the platform lets staff send payment links and feedback surveys. Staff can also send recall messages to patients who are due or late for a follow-up visit.

What Is SolutionReach Best For?

SolutionReach is best for automated appointment reminders. Staff build each reminder from a template library, where they can add the visit time, office location, provider, and pre-visit instructions. The pre-visit instructions tell patients how to prepare for the visit. Each reminder then goes out by text, email, or voice call at a time the practice chooses. The practice also chooses how the system answers patient replies. The reminder helps patients confirm, cancel, or reschedule the visit.

How Much Does Solutionreach Cost?

Solutionreach price starts at $329/month. It offers four customizable plans, which include:

  • PATIENT CONNECT
  • PRACTICE EFFICIENCY
  • PRACTICE GROWTH
  • ENTERPRISE

In addition to the base subscription costs, organizations should typically account for the following approximate additional expenses:

  • Additional SMS Usage: Around $50–$250/month for messages that are beyond the included monthly allowance
  • Optional Feature Add-ons: Roughly $50–$200/month for additional engagement with patients
  • AI Receptionist: Approximately $100–$300/month for scheduling AI-powered appointment and handling after-hours call
  • Revenue Cycle Messaging: About $199–$349/month for additional payment and insurance-related messaging support
  • Multi-Location Support: Estimated at $300–$1,000/month for organizations managing multiple practice locations and the related requirements

Users describe the software's pricing in mostly negative terms. They complain most often that the price has risen over time. Small offices also find the cost high for their size. Every pricing review comes from a team of 50 or fewer people.

Who Is SolutionReach For?

SolutionReach serves the following healthcare organizations:

  • Dental practices
  • Eye care practices
  • Medical practices
  • Dental support organizations (DSOs)
  • Vision groups
  • Hospitals and medical groups

SolutionReach Use Cases

Based on our evaluation of SolutionReach's features and market positioning, we have determined common ways that dental practices, medical practices, vision groups, and hospitals and medical groups use the platform to reduce manual front-office work and phone calls:

1. Dental Practices Checking Insurance By Hand

Dental front-desk staff check insurance by hand on insurer websites and phone calls. SolutionReach checks each patient's coverage automatically before the visit. The automatic checks keep each patient's insurance record up to date. Staff see each record in one view, with the patient's coverage, waiting periods, and the part of the yearly benefit that is left. With up-to-date records, practices receive fewer denied claims.

2. Medical Practices With Long Waiting Room Times

Medical front desk staff handle both appointment scheduling and patient billing. SolutionReach offers online booking and online intake forms. Patients book their own visits and fill out intake forms online, which helps practices keep waiting times short as it minimizes manual work for front desk.

3. Vision Groups Short Of Front-Office Staff

Vision groups often have fewer staff in their eye care practices, which can cause staff to suffer from burnout from the front-office tasks. SolutionReach allows corporate teams to set each front-office workflow once for every practice in the group. Under this guided workflow, patients receive automated alerts by text, email, or phone when their glasses or contacts are ready for pickup. This way, staff no longer need to send these pickup notices by hand.

4. Hospitals And Medical Groups With High Call Volumes

Hospitals and medical groups usually spend money and staff time on high call volumes and office tasks. SolutionReach saves that capital by sending automatic messages to patients before and after each visit at every facility. Staff set the rules for each message by visit type, provider, and facility. Every facility uses the same rules, so calls and office tasks drop.

Is SolutionReach Right For You?

If a practice uses general texting apps, or its tools do not meet HIPAA rules, SolutionReach addresses those gaps. The software syncs data with more than 400 scheduling and record systems, and its HIPAA business associate role covers each link. SolutionReach meets SOC 2 Type II, which requires outside auditors to check its security for extended periods. Its texts, video visits, and data sync all meet HIPAA rules, so practices can run all three on one platform.

Texting also has its own rules, with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) setting them in the U.S. and Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) setting them in Canada. SolutionReach supports both laws and asks staff to check each message against them before sending.

SolutionReach Features

AI Receptionist

SolutionReach's AI receptionist can answer patient calls and texts when staff are busy or the office is closed. Patients can book, move, or cancel a visit during the call or text. The receptionist follows the booking rules and provider hours that the practice sets. Each booking goes directly into the practice schedule. Staff can read a log of every call and text afterward.

See How It Works
Two-Way Texting

Two-way texting gives staff a way to text patients in real time from the office phone number. Visitors to the practice website can start a text conversation from the site. Patients can include images of their insurance information, injuries, or treatment progress in their texts. Staff can sort these incoming texts by importance. Prescription confirmations can also go out by text.

See How It Works
Patient Check-In

Patient check-in sends each patient a text or email before the visit on a schedule the practice sets. They can check in by replying to the message, opening a link, or scanning a QR code on arrival. They do not need an app or login for any of these options. An alert reaches staff the moment a patient checks in and each check-in updates in the practice calendar right away. Staff can also check in patients without a smartphone directly from the calendar.

See How It Works
Batch Messaging

Batch messaging can send one text or email to a whole group of patients. Staff can build each group by age, gender, or insurance. A CSV upload of patient names or birth dates offers another way to build a group. Staff can text a waitlist group to offer an open slot when a patient cancels at short notice. One message can warn affected patients about bad weather or a doctor's absence.

See How It Works
Reputation Management

Reputation management shows patient reviews from every business listing in one dashboard. AI alerts warn staff about new reviews and negative trends. Staff can answer each review with an AI-suggested template or reply to several reviews at once. The dashboard compares the practice's star ratings and review count with those of local competitors.

See How It Works
Location Management

Location management gives a group of practices one hub for all its patient messages. Staff at the main office can run reminders, recall, and surveys for every location from the hub. They can send branded newsletters to patients at any location. Managers can compare schedules, confirmations, and no-shows across locations and regions.

“Poor product”

Pros

The web-based aspect is the only pro for me. However, the ease of use was lacking. Often, I had to call customer service, wait on hold for 20 minutes, and then maybe they could help. Emails were very slow to respond to, if they responded at all.

Cons

As a sales agent dealing with customer service in the Philippines, I found it to be the worst. They kept charging me for Solutionreach even after I stopped using it. It's a terrible company with terrible ethics and business philosophy.

It's very glitchy. I couldn't get system issues resolved, and they claimed they had no records of my calls for tech support.
