Trimble Sketchup

The software lets users share models through a private invite or a public link. Viewers remain free to navigate the model, take measurements, leave comments, and watch updates happen live as they are made. This runs through the 'Collaboration Bar', which also lets the model owner control who has access and at what level, right from within SketchUp.

This feature turns a 3D SketchUp model into scaled 2D drawings with dimensions, callouts, and title blocks. Drafting tools like Trim, Extend, Fillet, and Chamfer refine 2D vectors inside the layout, and scrapbooks add ready-made windows, doors, and furniture. DWG import and export retain SketchUp tags as layers.

Trimble Sketchup brings point clouds from terrestrial scans, photogrammetry, lidar, mobile mapping, or drone captures import directly into a model. Users can draw and snap straight onto the point cloud with SketchUp's native tools. Its inspection tool flags missed or inaccurate details before the model is finalized.

The platform analyzes climate conditions during the early design stage to guide building decisions before 3D modeling begins. It assesses shading, daylighting, architectural response, and outdoor-space strategies based on the project location and building type. Users can compare different approaches and use generated climate graphics to support schematic design discussions.

With this feature, users can import and manage high-resolution 3D environments captured from images or video to design models. The extension uses millions of blended splats to represent real-world surroundings. Users can place proposed designs within a detailed site context without relying on complex point-cloud models.
