HigherMe is hiring and onboarding software for hourly recruitment. Hiring managers, HR teams, and franchise operators use it most, especially in restaurant and retail businesses. Users often praise its ease of use and time savings. However, it draws criticism for occasional system issues and uneven candidate quality. HigherMe recently added NextMatch AI, which runs automated voice-based first-round screening interviews.

Our Verdict

HigherMe is a practical fit for businesses that hire hourly workers often and need to manage recruitment across one or more locations. Its pricing is generally viewed as reasonable for small and mid-sized teams with recurring hiring needs. We recommend it for businesses that want a simpler way to manage frequent hiring from application through onboarding.

AI Hiring

The software conducts structured first-round interviews using role-specific questions and configurable prompts. It lets hiring teams start with preset questions or adjust them for individual roles. After each interview, the system stores a summary, transcript, and audio recording, so managers have the same information to review before deciding who moves forward.

Applicant Tracking System (ATS)

This system collects job postings and applications in one dashboard. Managers can create candidate shortlists, add application notes, and monitor status changes as candidates move through the hiring process. Applications from connected job boards also appear in the same view that helps hiring teams to review candidates without checking separate sources.

Payroll

The platform handles scheduled payroll runs, federal, state, and local tax filings, direct deposit, and employee tax forms. Using the software, staff can access pay stubs, W-2s, and payment history through self-service tools. Managers can also review labor costs, overtime, and tax data from the same payroll view.

Hiring Hub

This module organizes candidates across four stages: Inbox, Shortlisted, Interviews, and Onboarding. It enables managers to create custom interview rounds, collect team feedback, filter applicants, run background checks, and take bulk actions from the same dashboard. This gives hiring teams a clearer view of candidate progress from application through onboarding.

Recruitment hub

Pros

Moving into the platform has been very easy and it has helped me save a lot of time. The features we value most are the orientation package and the hiring workflow especially recruitment and AI interviews. The switch over went very well and the customer success support has been excellent. John has guided us through every step along the way.

Cons

At this point, I don't have any negative feedback about it.

Interview scheduling solution

Pros

Centralizing everything in one place cuts out the back-and-forth calls and the need to jump between different recruiting platforms. Scheduling interviews is very quick and simple and the automated reminders are a big help for reducing no-shows. Customer support has also been really helpful and responds fast.

Cons

The candidate quality is not always at the level we need and sometimes applicants are located too far away from our site.

Hiring management suite

Pros

With everything tied together in one place, the onboarding process feels much smoother overall. It keeps things efficient, cuts down on paper since documents are stored electronically and makes records simple to access when needed. The E-Verify and WOTC integrations are especially useful because it feels like working across three different sites with just one login which makes completing each step much more convenient. That setup is incredibly helpful for onboarding new hires because I can finish the E-Verify portion quickly and move on to other responsibilities without bouncing between multiple websites. Customer service has also been excellent and I always get amazing support regardless of the issue which makes the overall experience even better. The initial setup went well too, with no problems at all so the system feels very user-friendly.

Cons

One thing I do not really care for is that information from the I-9 used to automatically prefill the E-Verify section but now the same details have to be entered twice. On top of that, my IT profile keeps copying anything I type into List B over into the List C fields and we still have not been able to figure out why especially since it does not happen to anyone else.
